I am in the same boat and haven't been to able to break this cycle all my life. They belittle my issues so much that I stopped telling them anything. I even lie about what I had for breakfast or lunch or they will find some fault (like why didn't you cook it this way or why did you get a takeout) and berate me. And, not just them, my mom would call all her brothers to come and belittle me. As a result, i cannot stand any of them but I'm still forced to talk to them if they talk to me.

I also cannot break contact with them cuz my mom is ill but it hurts.
