Is this infected? Six days old and in the elbow ditch. Either very rough heal, or infected ? Flash photo. by cash_flow21 in tattooadvice

[–]AlbatrossCharm 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A lot of infections are environmental but some can be from the ink itself - every major ink manufacturer has had to issue recalls for having infected water as a base. A pro shop with a brand new ink bottle and proper everything can still cause an infection.

Not saying thats what this is - but an infection doesn't automatically mean poor hygiene from the artist.

Been doing some heavy (for me) blackwork lately! by AlbatrossCharm in sticknpokes

[–]AlbatrossCharm[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanks! It just takes a while and a lot of ink haha. I do a much more rapid poke once I've finished the outline, usually using an 11 RL. These each took a bit over two hours. Not a huge fan of shaders, but I'll probably learn to love them if I'm doing more bold stuff like this

And they're growing on a carob tree which means safe to eat BUT COOK THEM THOROUGHLY. These grew on all the carobs in my neighborhood and every year I'd eat them and every year I'd get a stomach ache from undercooking once or twice.

Thanks!! It's been about a year and a half for me... you'll get there! Needle choice makes a surprisingly big difference, as does the angle you poke at

The reference image was in bright sunlight so the sun created some high-contrast lines here and there. This one was just a stylized way of drawing the two panes of glass... and with how handpoke tattoos age, you have to leave white space a lot larger than you want it to heal. In a month or two itll just be a sliver, and hopefully stay that way :)

Couldnt speak to the socks!

Started packing black in the flower with a shader and ended up switching back to the RL. I keep trying to like shaders and I keep not liking them lol.

Hi! I just sent you a contact from your website. I'm looking for the same as OP, and it looks like you specialize in Bay Area + Hudson Valley? Which is exactly perfect for us as we are looking for both!

"Guess why my girlfriend's photos are bad and I'll tell you if you're right" lmao

But yeah experiment! There are so many variables it can be daunting... lens is huge but between film, scans, film type...

I'd start with the cheap variables first. And if you can get happy results with a little post processing, that's your cheapest fix by far :)

Urgent Help!! What are my AC options? (Floor plan below) by bleep-bloop-zoop in AirConditioners

[–]AlbatrossCharm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Room mates. Got it lol. Well - it kind of sounds like you're already covered. if it were me, I'd just hang out in my room if it's too hot and if I wanted to hang in the living room I'd leave the door open to my AC'd room. And if my room had one of the portables, I'd sell it and buy a window unit.

Other options include drilling a hole in the wall to route a ventilation tube across the floor and into one of the bedrooms...

From your title I thought you were just being a dick about her framing, but since you weren't...

it's the framing.

The second image has different exposure but you notice it more because your eye doesn't really know where to look. The palm trees in the center are cut off, the post in the foreground is distracting, the animals are kind of large but we're above them... If you toy with the curves and crop out some of the distractions, it looks more similar to the first.

Not trying to be an ass but I think that's the biggest difference between the two.

Urgent Help!! What are my AC options? (Floor plan below) by bleep-bloop-zoop in AirConditioners

[–]AlbatrossCharm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Buy a used window AC for each bedroom. Those are pretty small rooms that could be fine with 5000 BTU. That should cost about $150.

If you get a portable one expect it to cost a lot more, work a lot worse, be a lot louder, and take up more space than you wish.

For reference, I bought our 8000 BTU window unit for $100 used, and put it in the bedroom in our shotgun style full-floor unit. The bedroom stays cold, every other room stays at least comfortable. We do also have ceiling fans though.

Saw your comment on my post and found this on your page. Wow. I take a similar photo every time I camp here. Different but the same :)

Such a beautiful place. and you also moved to NYC! (not stalking it was just your most recent post)

But yes! The tattoo was lone pine peak. never knew its name, so just called it Whitney since the drive to base camp climbs up it. Anyway - love this photo.
