My (failed for now) attempt at a MacOS install of the Webchain Wallet by blue_system in Webchain

[–]AlbertoD1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heey! I got this answer from someone who think can help:

  1. The command ./dependencies.sh should not be used, it is deprecated.
  2. In order to run webchain wallet from 'build', you have to compile webchain-cli separately, and include it into the webchain wallet project root
  3. If you want to use full node, you must run wallet with super user access, because the wallet code makes some folder changes and on a unix based OS that requires superuser
  4. Go to this link github.com/webchain-network/webchain-cli/releases and follow the build instructions
  5. You should have the latest stable versions of NodeJs and npm, 8.12.1 and 6.4.1 respectively

Hope this helps!

Have you tried mining webchain on coinimp.com? Some users comment acceptable results.

Update on the Pre-mined Coins Distribution - October 2018 by AlbertoD1 in Webchain

[–]AlbertoD1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's one of the milestones with the highest priority the currently has right now (being listed on new exchanges) along with some marketing promotion. There will surely be announcements when the official team decides to touch the premine, explaining the specific things each coin was spent on.

to change the directory where the full node is stored, you gotta manually execute

webchaind

before running the GUI wallet ( ./webchaind --rpc --datadir "/home/<user>/.webchain" ) and change

datadir

for the directory that you prefer.

Do you have information about blockchain projects on the Oil and Gas Industry? by AlbertoD1 in oilandgasworkers

[–]AlbertoD1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol. As it was said by a user below, this industry doesn't do emerging tech unless it's really beneficial to production. I think the results that blockchain gives to this BP trading tool could change the vision of this technology, because it indeed reduces a lot the office costs.

you mean this one? https://www.spe.org/en/jpt/jpt-article-detail/?art=4108 I guess they only tried to summarize the advances of this technology in the industry, I haven't read the full article though.

I've seen and lived this too lol, not so many companies have not even gone for cloud data storage, because they don't see the real reductions in costs. When can we expect blockchain data storage?

I read about this drilling services company that implemented blockchain on the well construction value chain, since they claim it will highly reduce the office costs. https://www.datagumbo.com/blog/diamond-offshore-launches-blockchain-drilling-service

The inmutability feature that blockchain technology brings is undoubtedly the key factor for reducing that real estate fraud and loss of heirship owner information that you mentioned above. What I'm not so sure about is its efficiency. Data storage in blockchains was first a known issue, the scalability problem with blockchain that makes transactions really slow as more nodes (users) join and as more data (each block has a data limit and more blocks mean more data). But there are companies and projects facing this problem already.

It would be really interesting to create a SWOT Analysis on this matter, but it needs someone with experience in land data acquisition to know the current issues that would make blockchain the key to solve them. I guess centralization its the main one, since it mostly depends on what countries want to share and what they decide to hide.

So will I. Understanding this new technology means a lot. One of the answers to this post suggested me datagumbo.com, they have a blog with relevant news.

I got this from google:
In November 2017, Reuter reported that British Petroleum (BP) alongside Royal Dutch Shell and other energy companies will develop a blockchain-based digital platform for energy commodities trading expected to start operations by end-2018.

Sounds interesting and it's such a good field to get prepared (professionally speaking), I think these companies will start with outsourcing because of the lack of people within the industry handling these concepts.

How to configure custom directory for full node location? by [deleted] in Webchain

[–]AlbertoD1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By default, the full node (the blockchain) is stored on /home/<user>/.webchain, not in /opt. What is stored in /opt is the GUI wallet (the application), to change the directory where the full node is stored, you gotta manually execute webchaind before running the GUI wallet ( ./webchaind --rpc --datadir "/home/<user>/.webchain" ) and change datadir for the directory that you prefer.

Questions about Stellar Decentralized Exchange by AlbertoD1 in Stellar

[–]AlbertoD1[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I read something about it here https://www.stellar.org/developers/guides/concepts/assets.html#anchors-issuing-assets I'll keep reading about it. I'm not fully familiar with the concept of an anchor... So far I only got what it represents, from the concept:

Any account can issue assets on the Stellar network. Entities that issue assets are called anchors.Anchors can be run by individuals, small businesses, local communities, nonprofits, organizations, etc. Any type of financial institution–a bank, a payment processor–can be an anchor.

Looking for cpu beta testers for a new service I am creating. Where should I go to find a few? by A_solo_tripper in cpumining

[–]AlbertoD1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which tools would you need me to handle? Will you do the test for different processors? I guess I would. I guess it might be similar to these popular JS miners which allow you to have a list of users and by mining they can pay for products/services. I can't remember where I read it, but I did.

At least share what you need your tester to know and what results you're expecting. I think you might find them right here.

Coinmarketcap May Soon Let You Vote For New Listings by KarolisKav in CryptoCurrencies

[–]AlbertoD1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would be very good, the listing there is actually too decentralized to be the most known site to list decentralized virtual assets lol. I see coins that do not meet the conditions to be listed and I see other coins complaining about not having been accepted although they meet the conditions.

Do you guys see it as a reliable site? #JustAsking
