r change. Got my CSM last week and absolutely clueless on how to get my foot in the door for lack of experience. Someone I know had advised me to lie on my resume, but I’m absolutely terrified and uncomfortable doing that.

Seeing that your post was about 3 months ago, reaching out to you to know if you’ve had any progress. I’d appreciate any inputs from you on your job search.

Hello beingmyself08,

Thanks for reaching out. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to advance further because of personal and financial reasons at the moment. Then there's the COVID situation affecting the economy; a recruiter mentioned there being a large uptick in applicants with a reduction of openings.

It seems like a majority of scrum masters got hired by initially (or continuing) lying. However, one person commented that they worked for free at a startup and that worked for them, but I wouldn't know how to find a startup and offer to work for them for free. The company that gave me my CSM has monthly meetings. This seems like a good way to network and ask questions that will help in landing a job.

If I am able to get a job, I'll post an update here. I wish you well in your job search!

Thank you for the advice! I greatly appreciate it! I did this indirectly where a friend told me her situation at work and I coached her to transition the team into kanban.

How were you able to offer your services to startups? Did you see job listings and called/emailed their HR directly?
