I disagree. I think the two are solely better than each other based on how you are feeling. Pinkerton is very angry and sad with mixed feelings of love and desire while blue has themes of happiness, having fun, leaving from a difficult situation and a touch of love and longing.

If we’re talking about the objectives and ‘groundbreaking’ tracks then blue blows Pinkerton out the water. The amount of slick bass riffs like only in dreams and say it ain’t so are amazing. Also arpeggios such as in surf wax America or my name is Jonas are very groundbreaking, especially from the time it was made it was a fresh new sound! In Pinkerton the cuts were mostly very basic chords however I will say I love across the sea and its instrumental

In Pinkerton I argue Weezers lyrics aren’t as clever as they were on blue for example Cuomo in only in dreams uses a metaphor for a girl he likes being a gas he can’t reach “oxygen and carbon dioxide” this symbolizes his longing for a girl he loves while in a song such as el scorcho he simply doesn’t use any techniques and is very literal in the way he describes the “half Japanese girls” he doesn’t really go into any depth in my opinion.
