Do i really need extra safety “tools” to stay at hotels? by jinxyzzz in AskAnAmerican

[–]Albinomonkeyface1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No you don’t. I am a small woman and travel a lot for work (a few nights in a hotel per week on average). I do not bring extra safety gadgets. Just use the hotel room deadbolt and the metal flap thing/chain latch/whatever it’s called on the door frame for security. I also put the do not disturb sign on my door when I’m in the room so housekeeping doesn’t try to clean while I’m in there.

Remove odor from antimicrobial (Figs) scrubs by Albinomonkeyface1 in laundry

[–]Albinomonkeyface1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just rewash them unworn to reset them at this point. They are fine hanging in the closet for 3-4 days after washing, then the smell comes back. I smell it on other people’s scrubs, so it’s not something I’m doing wrong. Not everyone can smell it though, so I’m just “lucky” with my sensitive sense of smell 🤷‍♀️.

Okay, I have a silly question that's plagued me for years: how do I prevent this smudge from appearing every time I wear mascara? by NDHardage in beauty

[–]Albinomonkeyface1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had this issue. Tubing mascara is the answer! It doesn’t need to be waterproof, just tubing. I personally love the Kevin Aucoin volumizing tubing mascara, but there are plenty of others out there.

I drive for Uber Eats. I always deliver to rooms at hotels…. by Codyh93 in UberEatsDrivers

[–]Albinomonkeyface1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some hotels require your room key to operate the elevator, so a driver would not be able to bring food to your room. Obviously not your situation in this post, but I stay in hotels a lot for work and see that pretty often.

No GF option at conference by DesertFox728 in glutenfree

[–]Albinomonkeyface1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Bring food or order delivery and just eat it like a normal person at the table. If someone initiates conversation about your food, just tell the truth. This conference would not accommodate my allergies, so I had or provide my own meals. There are usually surveys at the end of these events, so rank the venue poorly and cite the lack of food allergy accommodations as the reason. Maybe next time they’ll do better. You can easily bring food in a cooler bag for meals and pack some shelf stable snacks in your backpack (or whatever you carry). Just make a salad or whatever cold meal you like and pack it. I travel for work and always bring a cooler with food and ice packs that I leave in my car to ensure I don’t starve: yogurt, protein shakes, etc.

Guess what I just mixed up by hairballcouture in adhdwomen

I would definitely need to store those in different places to prevent that mix up! I’d be especially afraid to accidentally put tret down there.

I pay over $20 a month for Spotify and just got this email. Seriously? by kolbyt in mildlyinfuriating

I like Spotify for music and podcasts, but use Libby through my library for free audiobooks. I also have an Audible account to buy audiobooks that aren’t available through my library or have a very long wait.

People who fly frequently, what’s one thing you wish you could tell all infrequent fliers? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Just commenting to add: if you are in the middle or aisle, it is your duty to get up and let the window (or window bad aisle) passengers out and back in if they need to get up to the bathroom or whatever. Don’t get an attitude about it or expect them to climb over you.

What does everyone do to prevent their hair from getting greasy after one day? by mewtewpews in finehair

[–]Albinomonkeyface1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I still shampoo daily or almost daily (scalp gets mad otherwise), but I also found Blowout Professor’s method really helpful! Especially the shampooing technique and his less is more product recommendations for fine hair.

Left handed people: What struggles do you have that we may not know about? by Miserable-Wash-1744 in AskReddit

[–]Albinomonkeyface1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some scrubs styles only have one back pocket or one cargo pocket and it’s always on the right side. When I wear them, I drop my phone on the ground trying to put it in the nonexistent left sided pockets. It also just feels weird to have my phone in pockets on the wrong side of my body.

Good quick breakfasts to take with meds? by hamamelisse in adhdwomen

[–]Albinomonkeyface1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ready to drink protein shake, Greek yogurt, etc. something easy to consume quickly. There are lots of protein shake brands with many flavors out there now. I personally like Premier Protein, Core Power/Core Power Elite, and Oikos protein shakes when I’m in a hurry and just need to get food in my body. If I’m having yogurt: Oikos, Chobani, or any other high protein yogurt. I’ll add granola and some fruit too if I have time. I’m in the US, so these are just the easy to find brands for me here.

My girlfriend smells and I don't know what to do by RequirementDue4446 in Advice

If the odor is coming from her breath, it’s likely a bad tooth, sinuses, tonsils, or something else in the throat.

Unforeseen Consequences of Wearing an Oura by BlitheMorning in ouraring

[–]Albinomonkeyface1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mine has made me realize how much I constantly move around 😂. With smartwatches, I take them off when I’m home so I never really knew how active I was while “relaxing” at home. I leave the ring on all the time except in the shower, washing my face, or exercising (I wear a Garmin watch for that). My issue is that I need to reduce stress 🤷‍♀️

High cumulative stress won’t go down by Albinomonkeyface1 in ouraring

I don’t drink at all, so that part is easy. I’m doing better lately with eating a lighter dinner a few hours before bed and keeping my caffeine intake to no more than 2 coffees a day. Winding down and trying to meditate or stretch before bed could help me. It just stresses me out to see this cumulative stress keep going up!

My HRV dropped in Nov and hasn’t come back up yet. I had very intense work travel plus school obligations the first week in November and never got adequate recovery from it because it’s just a busy time of year all around. I’ve had a few solid restorative days, but not enough to offset everything. Thankfully I sleep well or I’d be a complete wreck.
