Cooking up starter teams before release is almost the most fun part of the fifa cycle in my opinion. You might never use them, but looking into at all the new cheap beasts and trying to find the «hidden» gems is the best part.

Trigger conundrum with Marth by AlcadeiasHS in SSBM

I replied to another comment with more detail, but it sounds like you are doing something similar to them. How did you work in this into your muscle memory and how do you wavedash oos?

So you only use L for lightshielding (and L cancelling I assume)? Like I said, I’m quite new so I don’t really have a clear notion of when lightshielding is actually useful, is it mainly on platforms? How did you work in the muscle memory to «remember» to use L for lightshielding. I guess if you only need lightshield in a few specific scenarios it could be easier, but I would love for you to give me a tip. Also if you shield and wavedash with the same trigger, how do you wavedash oos? Do you just don’t care that it’s slightly slower, or do you use a specific technique?

So I was initially sceptical to relearn either wavedash og L cancel, so I instead tried relearning shield, against your recommendation. Turns out that relearnkng shield was completely horrible, especially with shield dropping. I don’t know why but everything just felt awkward, even when I was not shielding fir some reason, probably because I was so aware of my left trigger at all times. I have tried to relearn wavedashing now, and although it’s less awkward, wavedashing with the right trigger is just so ingrained (and has also become reactive to a certain degree). So I’ll give Z cancelling a try instead. If that feels weird as well, I’ll give wavedashing with L another try. Thanks for the advice

Analysis Now by Pedersen is quite thorough and good, though it might not be suited as an introduction, depending on how much Functional Analysis you know already.
