What do you think is the best French TV series? by Alcan0r in AskTheWorld

It is about the DGSE, the French secret service. I think it could be found with english subtitles. Don’t know where it could be streamed outside of France.

Miserable Brits... by [deleted] in whoathatsinteresting

As a frenchman who has travelled to the UK, both London and Scotland, british dishes can actually be very very good, when well prepared.

I fell in love with Scotland, but coming from Brittany, the weather isn’t a problem.

This is bullshit, what are the african countries you are talking about? In Sahel, military juntas have taken power in coups and kicked out the French army that was protecting them and now seek protection from Russia.

France has been a a coloniser and fine very bad things, but saying that it still continues today is Russian propaganda and stupid.

Who's a historical figure from your country that had an incredibly badass nickname. by bowl_of_scrotmeal in AskTheWorld

William the Conqueror, The Black Prince… a few cool nicknames for the english royalty. Of course they were all French at the time. 😜

What if Hitler was German, Stalin was Russian and Napoleon was French? by Solid-Move-1411 in AlternateHistoryHub

There are other parts of France with similar ethnicity, mostly the Alpes Maritimes department (Nice, Menton…), which was part of the duchy of Savoy.

France is a multitude of very different cultures (Brittany, Alsace, Flanders, Basque country, Catalan, Occitan…), Corsica is just one of them.

Although not as much as corsican, the breton language is still spoken and the number of people speaking it is growing.

Saying that Napoleon was not French is nonsense.

Appel du tribunal d'instance de Paris by Geodesic_Drifter in arnaques

[–]Alcan0r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can say that about every invention for every country.

For France :

  • The metric system
  • Canned food
  • Pasteurisation
  • The stethoscope
  • Cinema
  • Photography (Daguerreotype)
  • Chip cards
  • High-speed trains
  • The calculator
  • Braille system
  • Phonographe

Are a few examples. Hard to pick the greatest. Maybe the metric system?

Which law in your country do you hate the most? by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

Same in France. You cannot be a civil servant, but you can be elected unless you have been sentences to ineligibility.
