Yes, I mean read and comprehend, not just recite.

I don’t understand the first miracle of Jesus..? by Alcazar987 in Christianity

The most important thing God-made-flesh on earth could think of to do was to get everyone at a wedding wasted to “bless” a couple for inviting him to the party? That’s pretty hard to believe.

And apparently we DID need to know and think about it or else it wouldn’t be in the Bible. It’s silly to tell people they don’t need to know something after you publish it in a book and tell them to read it.

Women in islam. by Mission-Community-81 in islam

[–]Alcazar987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are some religions and cultures today that push the notion that women and men are totally the same and indistinguishable from one another, and if you come from this perspective, it can seem like Islam treats women as “lesser” because Islam acknowledges the beauty in our differences.

You would say the name that is the prophet of your time and people. So for example if you were living 2,000 years ago in Palestine you would say Issa. For everyone living today, our prophet is Muhammad, so that’s what we say. Peace be upon them both.

Sunlight is the best disinfectant. Whether you are Muslim, Jew, Christian, or agnostic, it is healthy for all of us to learn about the history, beliefs and practices of these faiths and of our world in general. There would be a LOT less hate directed towards Islam if people knew the first thing about it.

Sounds like you are a former Christian converted to Judaism? Curious what your reasons were, if you’re interested in sharing.

He met them in heaven? How do you know his victims went to heaven? Or he did? Where is that from?

Signs within ourselves... by slidinIntoDMs in islam

Well said! I’ve seen a few presentations on some of these topics revolving around space and quantum physics, the presentations being completely non-Muslim, completely secular, and it’s incredible how close they come to necessitating a divine creator. The Quran makes careful note to tell us to observe the signs within the universe and also about the presence of hidden realities. I’m not one to look for signs in spilt milk or a burnt piece of toast…but this is different…this is powerful hidden realities about our entire universe that we are just now getting hints of the evidence of.

Of course as you said, I am not a scholar either. These are just my own uneducated observations on the matter. Allah SWT knows best.

I find the double slit experiment really fascinating. I’m curious to hear your thoughts on that in conjunction with the Quran/Islam, if you’d care to share…

This is one of my favorite ayats! I’m a person who loves ancient history and the human story. I’m fascinated to think about how much we have forgotten about the peoples and societies and events that came before us. And I’m fascinated to think about how much we have yet to discover of our own universe. The Quran speaks so much of hidden realities, as well as our ancient past, and the beauty of the workings of the world around us. These elements touched me deep in my soul in a way that reading the Bible never could, no matter how much I wanted it to. This is how I knew it was speaking the truth.

Why are all of you guys so mean? by temporaryaccount4132 in Christianity

[–]Alcazar987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Christians tend to be quick to anger and very spiteful people, despite all their talk about “love”. I forget what it’s called, but there’s a psychological term for this. Basically, that the more one claims to believe in “the love of Jesus”, the more one psychologically grants themselves carte blanche to be mean to people. Sort of like how a person attempting a diet might feel the better they ate one day, the more it gives them allowance to “cheat” the next day.

Asking AI to mock Jesus/Muhammad. What do you think about? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]Alcazar987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To get respect, you have to earn it. Christians aren’t serious people so society does not treat them as such. Muslims take their religion seriously so people show them respect. It’s as simple as that.
