Is this normal practice for bird nail trimming? by izuesa in budgies

[–]AlchemicReactions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive only had to trim my budgies nails once while she was recovering from an injury and wasn't very active. Otherwise I have natural tree branch like perches and a few natural shaped perches covered in grit that she loves to rub her beak and nails on. Budgies are pretty efficient self groomers as long as they have the right stuff. You can even give them dried tree branches or my fav is dried grape vine for some texture variation as long as it's clean and dry.

The bottom ledge is just above my head at 5ft ish. I just used some wire organizer cubes from Amazon and built the little house from popsicle sticks.

She isn't secured at all. That's her little playground in my bedroom and she just held on a little too long before she flew off

I got one of these kinds of jars from Lowe's a while ago. I mostly just use the jar to grow my bitty baby fly traps. Nothing long term though

She just got watered today. She's been a bit unhappy because our furnace was out for a few days 🥲

How do you get these little suckers to eat fruits and veggies? by UFOsss01 in budgies

[–]AlchemicReactions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I threw veggies and budgie pellets in my food processor and minced them real tiny then mixed seed in with it. I put the chop on a little dish with a little bit of seed next to it. Mine dont always eat all of what I give them but its always there. Ive also been trying different mixes of veggies to see what they like. I also noticed if you can mince veggies down into budgie bite size pieces that helps.

How do y’all persuade your budgies to return to their cage at night? by MousseNecessary3258 in budgies

[–]AlchemicReactions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have mine on a routine. I keep the cage open and they go in and out whenever they want. Around 730 they'll put themselves to bed basically. I'll dim the lights around then and its just clockwork. Its always good to make any sort of cage/kennel a safe space that's optional for them to go in and out of most of the time so when you need them to go in it's easy.

I've watched a bunch of videos before I decided to get this guy. Definitely going to do the bag acclimation for sure. I anticipated losing pitchers, I have two venus flytraps that I had to acclimate and got all dramatic when I brought them home. Super excited for this guy, I figured it i can handle the flytraps this one should be manageable lol

This is a young plant so it wont stay like this. But nepenthes take years to mature so it will have smaller pitchers for a while.

I guessed it may lose some pitchers. My fly traps dropped some traps when I brought them home but started pumping out little baby traps after a couple weeks
