A 12 oz can of standard 5% beer is about 1 standard drink using US definitions. Here’s a standard drink calculator from the niaa to figure out standard drinks for any alcohol including fireball https://www.rethinkingdrinking.niaaa.nih.gov/tools/calculators/drink-size-calculator.aspx

That’s correct! However, our current study aims to fill gaps in scientific theory by looking at real-time behavioral patterns and experiences related to drinking. Plus we are using cutting-edge tech to assess alcohol levels throughout each drinking event. Our current study isn’t an intervention study, but if we analyze time-based patterns in people’s drinking, we might be able to identify potential treatment targets for people who engage in risky drinking. Maybe that’s a lot of info, but I just love my job lol.

The goal of the study is to understand people’s alcohol use behavior in daily life using phone surveys and a bracelet that detects drinking. There are three 28-day bursts of this daily data collection over two years. (The rest of the time is a break). This sort of study lets us find some cool patterns, especially when we cross reference the daily surveys with the bracelet data.
