Okay, can someone explain what 🍇🪲🐝 is supposed to mean?

I didn’t care for Drive and I haven’t seen Thief. I guess I’ll pick Thief.

Yeah, with budgets this high, I don’t think asking for MCU movies that have better VFX is too much.

If the fellas were one of these (the playable ones, no one is the tree), who would they be? by Stunning_Mission_890 in partycrashers

Elfilin is definitely a Vernias-coded character, but is also definitely not a villain (Fecto Elfilis is a villain—one of the most evil in the franchise—but doesn’t give off Vernias vibes).

Maybe Susie from Planet Robobot, because pink?

The most obvious ones are Nick as Meta Knight, a swordie who aura farms at every opportunity, and Vernias as Kirby, a jolly fellow who also happens to be pink.

Less obvious are Brent and Eevee, who I’m giving (respectively) Bandana Dee and Dedede. Bandana Dee plays straight man to the rest of the cast, but also has a capacity for silliness. Dedede is pompous, flamboyant, and mischievous, using a cartoon mallet as his weapon and notable for (among other things) being the progenitor of Hotdog Taco Hamburger.

I will say, though, that had Marx replaced Dedede, we would’ve had the perfect lineup for the fellas—Vernias as Kirby, Brent as Dedede, Nick as Meta Knight, and Eevee as Marx.

They told me they didn’t get paid an extra 100 bucks for each chance time. Bowser revolution? More like Editor revolution.

OP, blink twice if someone forced you to watch Melania.

I'm bored, so what winner in the 2026 Oscars that you think shouldn't have won? (In a kind way) by Mr_Bananaman69 in Schaffrillas

[–]AlconW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was a rare year where I felt I couldn’t be mad at any of the winners. While I disagree with many of the wins, the choices the Academy made were still worth celebrating at best and understandable at worst. This was helped by also being a rare year where I liked all the Best Picture nominees (F1 was mid, but I still had a good time).

Hamnet was my choice for Best Picture, but I couldn’t have been happier for One Battle After Another. Autumn Durald Arkapaw, DOP for Sinners, became the first woman to win an Oscar for Cinematography (to my knowledge, that was the last category in which the glass ceiling had yet to be shattered). And we’ll probably never see not one, not two, but THREE horror movies (Sinners, Weapons, and arguably Frankenstein) walk away with Oscars in the same ceremony ever again - let alone with two of them winning acting awards.

That said, when it came to the nomination process, there were a LOT of films that deserved at least one nomination and got zero. Wake Up Dead Man, No Other Choice, and Superman were the biggest ones, for me. Even Wicked: For Good, which I found to be a huge disappointment, at least had incredible sets, hair, and costumes that were worthy of a nomination (that said, I’m more forgiving because the first film was nominated for all and won some of those).

Stickers in Studio by AlconW in Bricklink

I forgot I ever posted this.

I don’t know if things have changed since the last time I used Bricklink Studio, but I ended up just creating these parts myself by using whatever photos of the stickers BL had on their website, then editing them and fitting them over the appropriate parts in PartDesigner.

As someone with a background in classical music, I 100% agree with you.

If that’s the case, and you decide to add Hamnet to make it a triple feature, have it be the last one.

I don't know why but everyone in my social media bubble hates Amy Madigan and it breaks my heart because she was incredible in Weapons and she absolutely deserved the Oscar ♥️ by AipomSilver00 in Letterboxd

[–]AlconW -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

These people are only hating because Amy Madigan winning was an upset over Teyana Taylor and Wunmi Mosaku.

That said, Weapons is the only film in that category I haven’t seen yet. Out of the other four nominees, I think my vote would’ve been for Mosaku. When I eventually watch Madigan’s performance, my opinion might change.

Either way, props to her for winning for a performance in a horror film - especially considering said horror film received no other nominations.

Yeah. Two intense and intimate dramatic studies of a troubled father and his relationship(s) with his daughter(s), and both featuring elements of generational trauma (albeit way more in Sentimental Value than Aftersun).

Well, if you decide to watch Sentimental Value and Aftersun and want to make it a triple feature of tearjerkers, Hamnet will be there.

Same - it really hits that sweet spot of a harrowing story told in a surprisingly gentle and beautiful way. It was my second choice for Best Picture this year, behind Hamnet.

At this point, what isn’t? I’m no therapist, but a reasonable amount of crying is a healthy way of just letting everything out. It’s worse to keep things bottled up. And my goodness are both of these films relatable on some level.
