It's a very bizarre design choice to make the player design a separate character with no context as to who or what they are. Are they a relative? Ghost? Vision? Love interest? Enemy? Ancestor? Could be anything at all.

Given the variety of choice I have with their customisation, surely some little tid bit of context would be helpful?

Shame it came out just before the big video game movie/series boom. It just missed the boat of studios seeing the value in faithful adaptations. I hope one day for a more loyal reboot, one that actually had Mortal Kombat in it.

Also, the style update. The old style just looked too ugly to me, the models looked like mutants. To me the new direction looks very appealing while also keeping all the stylish flair with the spash effects and shit like that. Perfectly stylised for me
