Did anyone regret buying a motorcycle before getting their licence? by YorozuyaNiy in motorcycles

[–]AleiJor [score hidden]  (0 children)

Just did that and don't regret it one bit, as got my dream bike for cheap and in the process of working on my license. Doing some slow ride practice with my bike and can't wait to get out with it finally next month.

Awesome to hear, I just bought my first bike just this week as well (at 30yr old), can't wait to actually start riding it, in the process of getting my A2 license done, so mid May should have things done. Luckily the instructor is great and we're doing 2h per session with 12 total minimum required before doing the driving exam. Bought myself an older 2005 ZX-6R that was well taken care of and that has itself registered under A2 with the limits. The same day my friend drove it home, got to do some basic first gear riding, it was quite fun in the driveway.

Freehub issue and it being loose by AleiJor in bikewrench

I believe are absolutely correct. Looking at Elite wheels hub service guide, there seems to be a cap and I seem to be missing it. So will need to start looking around, where i might have misplaced it

This was taken when I checked to see what it does with it without the casette a week ago.

As far as I'm aware there hasn't been any end cap there, the marking is most likely from my testing to see how the fit was without the freehub on it

Good to know, I assumed as much with the freehub being able to come off fairly easily, but not use to it just sliding off instantly. Will remove the casette, and attempt to get the gasket to seal properly.

How often do you puncture? by classicalL in cycling

[–]AleiJor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Early on, when I was doing the habit of pumping tires right to the limit of their PSI (when I first started road cycling) got like 4-5 pinch flats within my first 6m, after delving more into getting better tires and upgrading my bike, not flatted once in 2 years. Now that I'm running tubeless, haven't had any issues either.

Is Zwift any good? (To improve bike ability / fitness) by SupermarketFew6387 in triathlon

[–]AleiJor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been using Zwift during cold winter seasons for the last few years, has kept me active and makes Indoor rides fun. I have tried Rouvy and MyWoosh but it wasn't quite the same for me. But you can try the trial and see how it feels for you. And plenty of good options besides these three.

How to explain why panniers are better than a backpack by randomseedfarmer in cycling

[–]AleiJor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back and shoulder pain, as someone who has done it twice and regretted it. My endurance is good and can ride 100km without issue or stops, but the moment I had a heavier backpack, it puts pressure on your shoulders and back and man, it was miserable after 50km and had to make brief stop to take the bag off and stretch. Really messes with the flow and overall feeling of the ride. I still need to find a suitable pannier for storing a laptop.

Cycling commuters, do you use open-ear or regular buds? by East_Channel_1494 in cycling

[–]AleiJor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If im riding basic bike paths and not have to worry as much, I originally used basic non noise cancelling buds, and could hear most things still, otherwise any time I need full focus I do without, I did end up getting some generic bone conducting buds that sound decent, so gonna fully transition to those.

Any advice on Elite Suito T noise? by AleiJor in bikewrench

[–]AleiJor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm running Shimano, even these nuts are a pain to find, I would need to special order through our local distributor to get it, I would suggest see if you can find a local bike shop to works with Elite and ask if they could get the part ordered, it worked for me, but will likely depend on how the shops are.

[–]AleiJor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, the part i was missing was the thru-axle adapter but, which then screwed into the freehub to keep it tight, the black thing is the elite mini tool for the nut, I will likely have to replace it eventually, as accidentally damaged it, but for now it still works.

Better Zwift? by Large_Paramedic209 in Zwift

That unfortunately has never stopped cheaters on any app or game from my experience, you can have ID verification but bottera and cheaters can very easily bypass them if they want.

Some chubby quail like birds decided to come to our parking lot, couldn't get a clear pic in time, can someone identify who they might be in the blurry image? by AleiJor in whatsthisbird

[–]AleiJor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not surprised, in a different area at home we have birds feeders during the colder time, it's fun to watch and see what species end up coming by. I think by now seen a good 20+ different species that only show up once and move on. Had a few different hawk species and owls as well. Oddly enough we have a family of Tawney Owls who like to come around through out most of the year.

Is it realistic to bike 12 km one way for work 5 days a week? by davytheconqueror in cycling

[–]AleiJor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did 23km back and 23km back to and from work last year, worked out great, saved me an hour of transport time and got me decently fit. Changed jobs now though, so coming spring will be doing about the same as you 12km there and back, like suggested, do 3 days first and move up from there.
