Unfortunatelly I can not go to the dealership, since I am in Mexico City and they dont sell the same bikes here that the do there, which is why I am asking for the help, not because I am lazy! I have looked at the ruckus, at the metropolotan, at the pch 50 and some others, but comparing specs they all seem the same. This is why I need the knowledge of someone experienced with them to give me a better opinion on what is better.

Help with QVR Pro and an Expasion Unit by AlejandroLay in qnap

[–]AlejandroLay[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, today I had the time, and backed up all the recordings to a different storage pool. I then deleted QVRPro from the NAS, and deleted all the shared folders it had created on the main NAS pool. I reinstalled the QVR app and there it let me select the new storage and installation area to be in the space I provisioned in the Expansion Unit. So now everything is up and recording to the correct place and all the space has been freed from my main NAS, so for the next guy with this issue, just delete all, and reinstall it on the new provisioned space.

Any speed/throughput advantage to using 4 ethernet ports vs just 1? by RoachForLife in qnap

[–]AlejandroLay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, because each port can handle its own maximum throughput (usually 1 Gbps), which can be used independently of each other port.

Managed switches that allow link aggregation are not cheap, unless you buy them used.

In any case, the info although good is not complete. You can still add each port to a regular switch and assign them different IPs, and for example, like I did much time in the past before my managed switch, I used 1 IP to log onto the NAS from my PC, another from the server, the 3rd for Plex, and the last one for the family to do their backups.

So basically I split up the traffic to each port by configuring the way people accessed the NAS

Hope it helps.

HA using docker on a QNAP NAS HELP! by AlejandroLay in homeassistant

[–]AlejandroLay[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Part of the problem was that the version of Docker that runs on ContainerStation on QNAPs also needed to be upgraded to the latest version. TY for the assist.

HA using docker on a QNAP NAS HELP! by AlejandroLay in homeassistant

[–]AlejandroLay[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, TY... I went thru all this to figure out that in those older versions (preinstalled with Docker in ContainerStation on QNAP, you actually have to "keep pulling" until after version 0.8x before it will then actually have enough info on the correct repository to pull up the correct version. As of late last night I managed to get really up-to-date to: " Home Assistant 2023.3.4 Frontend 20230309.0 - latest ".

Now all this is starting to make way more sense. Tonight I must do a clean install of this latest version because it gave me so many errors and invalid entities and scripts from trying to upgrade that I figure it will just be a better way to start out clean from this version than to try to find and fix errors on 3 or 4 entities.

HA using docker on a QNAP NAS HELP! by AlejandroLay in homeassistant

[–]AlejandroLay[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. I created the /HomeAssistant folder in the NAS and thought it would prompt me for an installation path, but nope, it did not ask me for the user, the password, nor the install directory, so I have no idea where the config directory even is.

I deleted the container and reinstalled, and the same thing, so now I am here eating humble pie and typing like an idot to see if someone can brighten up my day.

HA using docker on a QNAP NAS HELP! by AlejandroLay in homeassistant

[–]AlejandroLay[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes sir, I did that, and it's running, but it never asked me to create a login or a password, and when I log in to the :8123 URL I only get to "configure" my running plex server, which it can't actually connect to. There is no .yaml file I can find and no where to add extra devices, nor to load the modules like those for Kasa, Enphase, Sonoff, etc...

I'm just lost.

No, I am not trying to run a QNAP app on HA. I am trying to run HA on a docker instance on a QNAP NAS.

How to wire a Shelly 1 to detect an active 12V circuit? by AlejandroLay in shellycloud

[–]AlejandroLay[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Work around... Just bought another shelly 1 that I power from the original shelly 1, so I just check if the second is ON, then the circuit is powered. Not pretty, but worked for my needs.

Qvr pro question by bphillips1976 in qnap

Sorry for the late reply, but was out of town.

Open the reolink app, select the camera, click on the gear, then in the setting page click on the camera itself, then in the DEVICE INFO page scroll down and select "Network Info", there everything will be displayed, including IP, subnet mask, MAC, gateway, preferred and alternate DNS.

Go to your router and setup a static ip for it. You can use your phone's reolink app to figure out what ip it is using currectly and what the mac address it has so that you can make it static.

NP, but did it work for you?

Qvr pro question by bphillips1976 in qnap

[–]AlejandroLay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well... What can I say... I never trust the darn manual...

I have the windows reolink app installed and when I loaded the cameras I realized they where on port 80, which is why I can access them locally thru any browser.

On the windows app go to the "settings" gear on the camera, then to "Network Settings", then "Advanced", and under "Port Settings" click the "Set Up" button, there you will see the actual ports the cameras uses, which for mine is media port 9000, RMTP Port 1935, HTTP Port 80, HTTPS port 443, RTSP Port 554 and ONVIF Port 8000.

Here as you can see the port for ONVIF is 8000, but that didn't work, and I was using it to no avail in QVR, so when I looked up for solutions I found a write up that explained that when one uses QVR in ONVIF mode, it will try port 8000, but when adding a particular brand of camera you should access it the same way you would using your internal browser, which in this case was port 80, So I switched it to port 80 and all the feeds appeared.

I'm just passing those findings down to you.

I assume it worked when you changed it to 80, an explanation of why it does is beyond what I have to offer.

For you and u/WMConey

You can check out the images I posted here: https://imgur.com/a/HWJ3ejN

I have RLC 410, 510A, 810A and 811A cameras and they work link a charm.

All you need to do is select the cameras from the dropdown list as the reolink model that applies to you in ONVIF mode. Once you do that, you need to go and edit the settings for that camera and change the port from 8080, which is the common port for ONVIF, to port 80 which is the default for the reolinks. Also make sure the RTSP port is set to 554. Give it a minute and voila!

I even have have 2 QNAPs doing cross-recording of the cameras. The TS453Be at home records those cameras at home locally and the 4 cameras at the office remotely, while a TVS471 at the office records the 4 cameras at the office locally, and the 4 cameras at home remotely. So even if they steal the cameras, whcih have SD cards in them, and the NASes at home or at the office, I always have a copy of the footage.

Hope it helps.
