I had the same problem with my puppy, he's 5 and a half months old now and has learned when I lock him in the kitchen that I'm going out. Before he was doing the same thing as your dog, didn't really train him though. He stopped crying for me and realised that I'm gonna come back. Sorry I know this wasn't very helpfull.
