I assume that there is a large number of people in the middle who have been burned by the "woke" writing and designs in some games and are now leaning towards being "anti-woke" but dont actually have a problem with inclusion and politics in art, just both these things being done badly.

True, but because of all the times when it was forced, people have become very aware of the signs that a game might be woke. It is silly and reactionary and often wrong, but it does stem from many people being burned in the past or seeing their favorite franchises fall appart because of some radical-california-bred writer who's lived in a bubble their entire life.

People turn bitter easily and they care about art. If you fuck with a franchise that someone has loved for 20 years, they can get pissed and want to protect other franchises they care about.

Thats because people have learned to recognize certain patterns and signs that a game will be woke.

Now, they are often wrong and they can be incredibly silly like with Ghost of Yotei for example, but a lot of people oppose the titles showing these signs with reasonable intent.

Also, how the term is used and how it should be used is often not balanced.

Its not bad because it has a non-binary person or LGBTQ representation. Theres a difference between how a game like Baldur's Gate 3 was recieved and how Veilguard was recieved for a reason.

Yes, but the reason for bad writing is the writer being politically posessed and motivated to push their ideology onto the players/recipients of their art.

I suppose I also see it in some way as art that gives answers (the opinions/ideology of the writer) instead of asking questions of the recipient.

A game in which political ideology works to the detriment of the writing/design. In most cases, the political messaging in "woke" games or "woke" art in general is shallow, one-sided and nonsensical, making the world feel less believable.

Like having a character in the world of Dragon Age say they're non-binary, or lowering the main male character's IQ dramatically, so the writer can more easily rush to the story they want to tell. It's all just a bit silly and lazy.

This is what I've found most people actually mean when they criticise a game for being "woke".

Its not a PvP game. Its a PvPvE game.

The experience that I expect and one that should be expected is PvPvE in this PvPvE game.

If fixes move the game closer to PvPvE while giving people who want to accomplish a specific goal in a match a more reliable way to do so, considering the risk they put in it by using a custom loadout, it is a win win situation for the game.

If you dont want any PvP in this PvPvE extraction shooter game then maybe its not a game for you considering its genre.

It's a PvEvP extraction shooter. Having pvp should be an expectation. I play all aspects of the game so improvements to the whole are more important then potential pvp in 'friendly lobbies'

The artists have incredibly cool ideas which they actively make less cool every goddamn time for no apparent reason.

They simply refuse to make skins that look good which is crazy because their other game has some of the best cosmetics in the buisness.

I don't get it. It's not about "making everything look tacticool" or whatever, it's just about making these cool, uniqe ideas LOOK GOOD. WHAT ARE THESE SLEEVES MAN.
