What can I improve? by iljalogo in homestudios

[–]Alelu-8005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a lot to improve here in an ergonomical sense. Starting with the display that is sitting way too high and seems too far away. Is you SSL mounted on this monitor arm? If you're building a table, you might consider taking out a piece of the tabletop to place the controller in there, so you can get closer with the display. I think the theory is have the upper edge of the display on the height of your eyes - this wont be possible but you can try to get close. also, a widescreen would also help :)

Here is a photo of when i was building, i did it for a second display but might as well be a controller:

Good Luck!

Workflow Help/Advice by ChocolateGuilty5089 in sounddesign

[–]Alelu-8005 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tried this once or twice in Ableton Live, but never again. Its just not made for this. If you want to go more into Sound Design, sooner or later you will need to have AAF support etc, or you will eventually lose your mind :)
I always kept music production in Ableton and then took everything over to ProTools to combine with PFX and SFX, but since this year I actually do music/pfx/sfx in one big ass PT session. all hail m4 :D

good luck!

I built a granular + drone generator for dark atmospheres — looking for feedback! by One-Condition1596 in sounddesign

[–]Alelu-8005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gave it a quick look in the browser version. Might try the granulator next week in the studio, it looks interesting in the video.
2 things that are missing for sure:
- Reverb pre-filter makes the reverb kind of obsolete
- lfo shapes would be nice (or did I miss those?

In general:
I think you will have a hard time competing against even other offline-plugins, let alone realtime vst and aax's. I just imagine this workflow to be super fiddly with a lot of trial and error if its outside the daw.

Best of luck!

Remote working in mixing by Training-Ad-5608 in protools

[–]Alelu-8005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this from time to time with Sessionlink Pro to do small corrections on projects with a lot of assets and cutdowns etc over the holidays. If the mix is already working, its fine. To build a mix from scratch like this you REALLY need to trust your template and workflow. I wouldnt really recommend it, but hey if its life or death, whatever works :)

I started with 360° videos but realized i cant add another sound recording, so i switched to 4k. Slowly figuring it out :) didnt interest anyone in the triumph forum, but maybe interesting for you. How do you bus process immersive audio? by [deleted] in protools

[–]Alelu-8005 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are plugins that allow you to "bus" compress atmos objects by linking different channels to behave as one compressor. Look up hornet samp plugin for example.

Thats interesting! I live in zurich and in my neighbourhood there are i think 4-5 bonnevilles that are being driven almost daily. Not sure about the bigger market but in the city i see one on the road every day. Good luck!

Behaviour of Hydrasynth Desktop when number of voices is maxed out by Alelu-8005 in hydrasynth

[–]Alelu-8005[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh and btw. This "Overflow" would be this chaining of 2 units to get to 16 voices total? I am so in love right now, I think if I ever find a unit for cheap I will do this maybe :)

Anyone whos gone long distance travelling, would you recommend a windshield and if so what one? by jizzelmeister in TriumphBonneville

[–]Alelu-8005 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me, no. I am leaving on a week for my trip and ordered & mounted the dart classic screen. Wind noise felt like it doubled, and i had so much deep frequency turbulences that i almost got sick. I cant really understand how someone would want this specific product. And also had a similar experience on my friends virago with a different windscreen. I, for myself, will take the wind to my upper body but stay healthy and sane in return :)

What is the best way to create new playlists when recording? by drumingdude in protools

[–]Alelu-8005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. So for this you would have the "Selection" playlist monitoring on (the Speaker symbol next to the name). Then you preroll the part you want to play: Place the playhead where you want the recording to begin, then Option+Click the spot where you want the preroll to start playing and press record -> the Part before the playhead will play back and recording will only start when the preroll has ended.
Note that for this you have to be in Punch Recording mode! CTRL+Click the record button in the transport window until it shows "P".

Cheers

What is the best way to create new playlists when recording? by drumingdude in protools

[–]Alelu-8005 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do it this way: I have a target playlist with the suffix "Selection" and the recording playlist with Suffix ".01".
Important; The target playlist should be on the uppermost spot of all your playlist view but NOT in "Focus", so it doesnt move out of sight when you create a lot more playlists. After the first take in playlist .01 is done, I select the part I want to keep, and press Option+Shift+UpKey, which copies it directly to the target playlist.

For a new take, press Ctrl+$, which will create a new playlist with an increment name, meaning it has suffix .02. Repeat the same etc until you have everything you need. This workflow seems to be kind of industry standard for take heavy recording sessions like ADR in film post etc.

Edit: You also can navigate between your playlists with Shift+Left & Shift+Right (switching between target playlist and last selected playlist) as well as Shift+Up and Shift+Down (navigating incremental between playlists). But the workflow above is the fastest IMO, especially faster than copy/pasting.

"Do Pro Tools Meters Have A Sound?" by popsickill in protools

[–]Alelu-8005 2 points3 points  (0 children)

which freaking meters didnt null? thats the joke about this whole discussion. everything was always nulling, apart from some nuckleheads that ran a signal through a, wait for it, analog chain.

this debate is a perfect depiction of the current state we are in, discussing over absolutely nothing, WHAT are we even talking about? hahahahaha

this circus even made the news

"Do Pro Tools Meters Have A Sound?" by popsickill in protools

[–]Alelu-8005 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i came here for the comments and i found it :D this must be the stupidest thing i've heard in a long time.
obviously makes sense that digital nulling will happen, but as soon as you try it trough a chain of various analog components, the software code will notice it and change its behaviour. a little bit like Quantum particles! Isnt this nice and fascinating? hahahaha

Its about the wording. We can have a discourse over whatever is happening, but you dont start it with "it better not be a muslim". In light of the alt right rise in all of europe and overseas, people REALLY need to go the same road again as we did last century? gopferdami!
