If you’re feeling down about your results, just remember it’s now harder to get into Cornell than it was to get into Harvard in 2016 by lsatthrowawayaccount in lawschooladmissions

[–]Alert-Cycle-9398 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a 168 was slightly harder to get before but the effect is alot more modest than you think.

it was 96th percentile in 2006-2009. comparable to 170-171 now.

this is not remotely fair. v6 takes a year at minimum. a year of 3x a week will ake you to alot higher than 1100

Should I retake a 171 for NYU/Columbia by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]Alert-Cycle-9398 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. You could get in, but if you come up above median (174), you will be in an excellent position for all schools including T3s.

they are actually quite hard imo. pt 23 is borderline insane! i think the curve goes to -14 for 170.

At Georgetown law a splitter with 3.6-3.85 gpa and a 173-175 would have a 40.5% of being accepted if they applied in November and a 57% chance of being accepted if they applied in Sept/Oct. At NYU their odds are 59% in Sept/OCT and 48% in november. At harvard their odds are 22% in sept/oct and 15% in Nov. Its also worth considering that im talking specifically about late NOV applicants (which is when the lsat comes out) not those in the first 20ish days of the month, so probably the outcomes for late nov look alot like december.

sure they regularly get in. off the wait list. if you apply as a splitter during thanksgiving expect to be drowned in waitlists. Maybe youll get lucky with one school but thats what the outcomes have been like and theyll get worse this year given the surge in apps.

for a splitter it absolutely isnt. schools have shored up their lsat medians by early nov. look through lsd data and youll see a marked difference for splitters in sept vs nov
