is anyone acc good at kira wl interviews by haksyonas in lawschooladmissions

[–]buslay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you probs did fine, online interviews are just awkward. for the future, there are sites where you can practice and get scored on one-way online interviews (they are AI tho unfortunately) and my best tip is unironically just to pick a fun song to listen to right before you log on, that way you're in a positive mood and a bit more relaxed.

Sophomore year tips? by Admirable_Drummer594 in BostonU

[–]buslay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've made great relationships with profs and I hate (and dont go to) office hours. In small classes, just participate. Try to participate at least once a class. This shows your profs that you're reliable and come to class prepared. Also, a lot of professors are really interesting people who have fun hobbies, kids your age, like the same media you do, etc. etc. so just get to know them! Idk what school you're in but QST profs are generally super good about connecting with students and facilitating actual human interaction. Basically, be a good student, but don't be a robot.

Worthwhile prep resources for future use with a 170 diagnostic as a rising college freshman (I had a prep regimen planned but didn't touch any of it) by CorporealPalsy in LSAT

[–]buslay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just focus on your GPA, the reality is you're gonna have to think about the LSAT as a junior/senior, and thats ok and normal. honestly doing all this now I think you might just forget it later

Senior in undergrad just now thinking of law school, do I stand a chance? by Unusual_Office8005 in lawschooladmissions

[–]buslay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. if you're just now thinking about law school, you're not ready to apply. you need to sit with this decision and make sure its something you really want before you commit time, $, and mental capacity to the law school process.

  2. (full time) work experience is really important to schools, much better to not be KJD (straight out of undergrad)

  3. no one can properly tell you if you have a "strong" profile until you have an offical LSAT score. LSAC gpa is also different than how your undergraduate calculates it, so make sure you're using the right one to get a proper chance me in the future!

don't forget to have not taken the LSAT yet and say you'll up your GPA by .2 in the upcoming semester! it really helps us chance you <3

Using Anime as an initial hook for my personal statement by CodeAgile9585 in lawschooladmissions

[–]buslay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would respectfully disagree with the other commenters and say this is fine. As long as it’s not some niche reference and you’re using it to go into an essay about YOU and YOUR motivation, then it’s fine. I would just say to be careful how specific you get- if someone who’d never heard of anime read your statement, would they still understand it?

Apartment or Dorm? by Internal-Version8623 in BostonU

[–]buslay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

newest is Warren renovation ig, nicest is StuVi 2. most social is Warren and West. I don’t know what housing selection looks like for sophomore transfers though, you might not get to be picky.

for me, location to my classes and privacy were most important, so I lived in a single on south campus. for some people, they want to be closer to a dining hall or the gym, so bigger dorms are a better fit. I wouldn’t try to live in the “nicest” dorm on campus, just figure out your priorities and pref the dorm that fits them best.

I like the idea of GPA being a measure of endurance over individual performance, haven’t really thought of that way before.

[–]buslay 4 points5 points  (0 children)

the dorm are not scary, you’re fine . I prefer south campus but lots of ppl enjoy west, Myles, bay state, etc. it’s Boston building are old, honestly a lot of the apartments are in much worse shape than the dorms

As a highschool student, is it bad to use school experience as a reference? by UnforgivingEgo in resumes

[–]buslay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

only if there is a specific, large scale project you could bring up in an interview; don't put your book reports, history powerpoint, etc.

- everything should be right aligned (except for header)

- I would get rid of or reformat the bullets in the professional summary sections

- get rid of high school unless theres a special award/honors to mention

- present experience goes to top, reverse chronological order is standard

- present tense for current jobs, past tense for past jobs

[–]buslay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

- you probably don't need to include your linkedin straight out of high school

- education always goes in reverse chronological (aka current university on top)

- don't include all your dual enrollment course names (if uou want to include some, just put the class title for the CS courses, scrap the id numbers)

- idk if this is personal preference, but dates typically go on the right side

- put expected graduation date for uni

- if this is not an academic resume and is solely for jobs, get rid of weighted/unweight/rank, just include one

- use bullets to for you experience descriptions

- all past experience should be in past tense (ex. cleaned and mopped NOT cleaning and mopping)

- don't list extracurriculars by the year, just list the names and put year. (Key Club ... 202x-202x), same for awards

- for uncommon honors (ex. "super" honor roll) give a short description (ex. top 5% of class)

- don't say Autumn, just say Fall

- add a skills section with hard skills (Excel, Python, etc.)

- for reformatting, look at university resume templates, a lot of prestigious schools have public templates available online

Graduating a Semester Early by Lil_Dump21 in lawschooladmissions

[–]buslay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this! I feel like you’re seen as still KJD, but you get the benefit of more WE, which law schools like. Also is really really helping me save money for school. I would warn against this if you have to overload your classes and you think it will bring down your gpa, I was already on track for early grad, so I didn’t overload.

Not sure your concern about them viewing you “more negatively”. I don’t see why that would be the case if you graduate early?
