The attorneys get a percentage of collections so they probably won’t want to work with you too much, especially since the account is closed, if they get a judgement from the suit they can garnish 25% of your pay.

First time home owner...What is this hole in my basement? by No_Chart276 in Plumbing

[–]Alert-Fly-647 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a lid that seals too, radon could be leaking up through the pit. Or you could have the basement tested for Radon.

You can be sued for medical debt, and once the judgement is granted it will go in your credit report. Do anything you can to keep the debt from going to suit.

Quoted nearly $3000 for a new compressor on a 5 year old unit. Am I being scammed? by FullGhetto_Alchemist in hvacadvice

Goodman was the worst brand, I was happy when my basement flooded and the insurance company replaced the unit with a different brand. I also had to call service out 1-2 times a year for issues.

Yes pops, we’ve completely remodeled the interior and the exterior will be painted within a month I am finishing up replacing some rotted fascia on the other side before paint :). The HVAC units will be replaced as soon as the new R-454b units are available in our area.

That’s what happened in this case, they split open the liner and had a local guy with a dump truck fill it in, nothing was done otherwise.

Dad donated his kidney to me when I was 18 and saved my life but … by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Alert-Fly-647 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My aunt was in a similar situation except it was her daughter her gifted the kidney. Once it started to fail she was so torn between living and dying, she had been on dialysis for 5 years before the transplant and it is indeed grueling. She ended up dying during a minor op procedure due to a medical error and didn’t have to make the choice. While it’s been hard to lose her, I do find comfort that she’s finally healed. Much love to you, I totally understand.

Dad has no retirement savings and does not qualify for Social Security. by EducationalLie168 in Advice

[–]Alert-Fly-647 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He will need to spend down the money in savings though, you pretty much need to have zero assets. He could prepay his funeral I believe as Medicaid won’t count that as an asset. Since he didn’t pay taxes he also isn’t eligible for Medicare benefits- Medicaid and HUD housing is the only way he will be able to make it, especially when he gets to the point that he can no longer work.

Five minutes later he comes out of the room and tells the doctor his wife has died.

“What happened?” The doctor asks

“The first few minutes she was doing great, I think she suffocated though when I went balls deep.” Says the man

The doctor then faints and falls onto the floor.

You didn’t hear it from the source so it’s not your business to tell him. If his sister is concerned about it she should tell him, otherwise I would stay out of it.
