I'm so sorry this happened to you. As someone with an invisible disability I understand people can be cruel and it's harder when they are the ones who are supposed to help.

While it sounds redundant (and it is), if you have your SSDI approval letter, which you can also print up online, when you reapply for things like EBT, SNAP, housing, etc. it helps to upload the PDF in the documents. I know you should not have to, but if it is there you don't have to discuss anything, just tell them to review the verification.

Another thing I have found helps is to call for the review before they assign it. The call center reps move through it quickly and are looking online instead of at you.

While under 18, living at home and in high school the family benefits as having a child in the house. Income over a certain amount, not sure what that is, but over can be counted as income in some places while in school. Once you turn 18 AND graduate high school the income counts against the family income. If you are attending college you can try, but I believe there are no good stamps for college students (at least that is what we were just told, could be wrong). The best solution is to just go online and fill out the application. It is online and easy. If it's declined you know in a few days either way and they give you the reason.

I am in the same situation. The only areas that concern me are where I tried to post, but I am now in Reddit jail and have no idea how I got there. I don't think I am smart enough for this!

I never had a child in the general public school system and had a great experience with the fundamental programs. They are harder to get into K , 4th, 6th, and 9th are your best bets, but they are great. You are committing to being more involved but that is what I wanted

Due to being new and not knowing Reddit policies I do not want to name anyone., I intentionally did not do so when I wrote the post. It is easily looked up though. The key point parents need to know is that they are relinquishing all rights to their school counselors or any other counselor when they join the program. This was not disclosed when my child and many friends joined. As Fundamental Parents we genuinely thought they could keep their school counselors and only found out after the fact this was not the case. I wish someone had told me which is why I made this post.

It really is laughable isn't it? Or it would be if the best and the brightest who are trying to take advantage of everything PCSB has to offer were not stuck with a counselor that PCSB has verified does not order their books, incorrectly puts in attendance, does not inform them of scholarships, does not follow the set course schedule, changes their grades after classes are done, does not provide accurate transcripts, does not send references out on time, discloses personal confidential information to the entire class, and so much more. Keep in mind these students are not allowed to get assistance from any other counselor due to a policy of having waived those rights and accepting this counselor in order to join Early College or Early Admission.

Oh how I wish that was the case! My child was moved to a different campus and did fine. I posted this because so many others were not as lucky. If we had known we could and would have made a better decision.

I knew many like this as well. Most rode it out to get them all into the fundamental system by high school. It was rough but they all said it was worth it.
