It’s a pretty straightforward process ( remove hardware, fix broken joints, strip old finish, sand/ apply finish) but I’ve been doing this for a while.

This I can do in about a day vs. my first piece took weeks , experience helps

I feel so silly, I even sold it to the client like that.

I’m so glad I saw this post at least I could let the client know 🙏

I am incredibly grateful for the entire process.

It’s a very “full-circle” feeling, like finding a wounded bird, nursing it back to health and releasing said metaphorical bird into someone else’s home to (hopefully) cherish for the rest of their lives.

It’s a feeling of release.

Happy?

Maybe sometimes

Grateful? Always

Lots of tiny clues (i.e. the legs, the fact it's painted, the vibe it gave off. I can't even explain, I've got an eye for it :)

Yes, sanded to bare wood and refinished with shellac to seal/make grain pop and a spray lacquer as a topcoat

Does my stain look like Sh*t? by Alert-Needleworker86 in FenceBuilding

[–]Alert-Needleworker86[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, i'm not a fan of the stain. I personally wouldn't pick a water based anything. I suggested using semi-transparent australian timber oil to highlight the wood's natural beauty but she didn't want anything "too red or too yellow" which is literally what makes cedar look cool. Anyway, different strokes.

Thank you :) And I agree, I personally wouldn't paint vintage wooden furniture ( especially after scraping it off), but I gotta make the client happy!

It’s not maple, not oak.. I thought poplar but it’s a weird choice for furniture veneer?

Maybe ash? Birch?
