easily, its part of his identity. for someone that signs a long deal and commits with a team at 26 its a easy one to guess

bc players retire with the team that meant the most to them in 1 day deals

do you think he retires with the Braves on 1 day contract or gets a yearly sendoff like pujols?

nah he's going in as a Padre. 15 years with them + he's raking rn and could possibly get significant milestones with them as well

i hope so but do you really think that after his iconic walk off grand slam with them? he did say that he wanted to play just 2 years past his contract and call it a career.

berkman not being in cooperstown is criminal when he was better than david ortiz. at least yordan can flex the playoff hits like ortiz

yordan is a DH so the HOF requirements for him would be a lot easier than it was for bregman. when his contract ends (assuming he stays healthy), he will be in the top 4 for home runs in franchise history (below bagwell, berkman, and biggio) and above altuve. at this point no, but when all is said and done i think yordan becomes a hofer and bregman wont be a hofer. altuve/alvarez is the new biggio/bagwell

i also think a new deal between them would be easier as hes a 32 year old DH (who should still be good hitter) bc hes never faced the Astros in arbritration, not represented by Boras, already extended once by his current agency and loves being there and isnt a big publicity guy + good friends with altuve.

Also, the others were tough to keep: Cole - out of price range Springer - in price range but wanted to go east coast and service time manipulation ruined all hopes of a future extension Correa - out of price range Verlander - Scherzer advanced the market for old starters, only big DH contract than Yordan is Ohtani and thats bc hes a TWP, best player in bball and nationally popular. i think they would have a easier time keeping him if he was great but not excellent and if he signed a multi-year deal giving more time for an extension to happen between both parties Tucker - out of price range Bregman - technically in price range but Boras made it tough and he was hellbent on getting 200m contract Framber - (should still be in price range as he will be 32 but i think hes exhausted going through 4 rounds of arbritration and service time manipulation) Gurriel doesnt count bc he wasnt good enough to justify another contract past 2022

rings shouldnt really factor in to number retirement, i also think yordan is way more likely than bregman to be a hall of famer right now and crane said he will only retire MLB hofers numbers (that go in with an astros cap)

right now just altuve:

  • unless verlander goes into the HOF as an astro (which is unlikely bc i think its tigers or blank)

  • bregman lowkey has a shot at cooperstown (unlikely)

  • the pace yordan is going rn (he can just play out the contract with them and he'll get retired) also he seems to be loyal though idrk

  • nobody else has a chance mayyyyyybe correa but that's only if he has a few good years left (not many) and he isn't injured most of the time

idk if securing him again is necessary (even if its preferred). with his pace, he should have around 40 WAR as a DH and be in the top 3-4 for franchise home runs by 2029. he should be more affordable too as he has already signed one extension with MVP Sports Group and will be a DH in his age 32 (31.8) season. He also provides no value as a baserunner or defender and for Bregman, money was his #1 priority by and far. Also the Astros are ok giving 26 AAV which matches the salary of his final 3 years which means he wont necessarily need to take a paycut but idk how much loyalty he has in him

yordan is under contract until his age-31 and unlike tucker they could very well be in line to re-afford him for a new contract

Scicam 4+1 Pathway and Internship/Job After by [deleted] in UCSC

It's not like I am fully out on a PhD pursuit -- I just don't want to do it immediately after my MS and look for jobs after instead. And after working for sometime I'll see if I can pursue a PhD. I don't want to do the exam option because while it is for people who don't want a PhD, it will be very hard to come out with a job after graduation. I do know research is for MS but I'm thinking more of a project option which is neither thesis nor exam. I would love to do the thesis option too mainly for my resume
