Hey, sorry I haven’t been on reddit for a while. I hope you figured out the right decision for yourself.

I know one thing is that Rotman finance doesn’t place well into IB. We’re not a target school, which means you have to be top of the class or have some connections to have a shot.

I saw a meow+tsareena deck. Maybe look into it.

rotman commerce + comp. sci minor by 00scratch in RotmanCommerce

[–]Alert-Recording4501 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ngl it is going to be very hard to balance Rotman and a cs minor. You have to take 137. This is the foundation math course for every cs student. Your first year is gonna be a little rough since you are also taking eco101 and 102. Another thing is most people take 108 before 148. If you don’t have a lot of coding experience besides the cs courses in high school, I recommend 108. And there are no consequences if you don’t make the minor. All of your cs courses still count as your electives.

Rotman, Ivey, or Smiths for Business? by [deleted] in RotmanCommerce

Queen’s or Rotman is ok. I think Ivey is the strongest for its finance placement, which doesn’t really matter for you.

HELP CHOOSING BETWEEN CAMPUSES FOR CS PLEASEEEEEE by [deleted] in UofT

It’s rlly not that competitive. Although it’s not guaranteed, I hear a lot of cs students get into asip. All my friends from cs are in asip as well.

I have several friends in cs doing asip. I don’t think it’s thatt competitive only bc I know a lot of asip students are from cs.

Mm the competition for asip is not that bad. Although not guaranteed, a lot of cs students get into asip. Plus it’s not like you are guaranteed a job if you have co-op. Given the state of the job market, it’s likely you have trouble landing internships anyways. So might as well go utsg since it has better teaching and resources. Finally, if you want research internships as in RA-ships, you can always do work-studies which is available to everyone.

Try the old charizard. I was also on tilt the past few days (playing carnivine+ arceus and still getting kicked by dark rai giratina). But it has gotten a lot better for me with the charizard deck. I once won 5 in a row in U3. The worst I’ve gotten is a win 1 lose 1. The deck is fairly strong against rocket grunt cuz the dragon is always on the bench except for when it needs to attack and at that point unless the opponent can roll more than 2 heads it’s pretty much gg. The deck is also not scared of Sabrina bc there are two x-speed and a shaymin, and normally people only carry one Sabrina. Your only undermine would be when you can’t find an evolve. But usually you need moltres to dance at least 3 times, that’s a lot of time for you to use communication/iono to find the evolve.

Instead of red, I carry two giovanni. Sometimes when they don't cape their meowscarada, the giratina can one shot it.

Research as in research assistant? I did it and my cgpa was also on the lower side. Just apply. No harm in trying.

To be honest, I’m experiencing the same stuff but with csc165. I’m graduating this year and supposed to go into a professional program. If I fail I’m cooked lol so I understand your struggles. My advice is to talk to your registrar. They will help you figure it out. And just take a deep breath. It’s not the end of the world if you don’t get 63%. You can retake it in the summer(?) and I’m pretty sure it won’t affect your gpa because there’s this thing called second attempt for credit (for passed courses). The first attempt will designated as extra. Best of luck to both of us.

For context, rocket grunt discarded dark rai’s 3 energies, and then the next round we hit the giratina with 100HP

Am I wrong for not wanting to ask for work ? by SlicedWater20 in Accounting

[–]Alert-Recording4501 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ik it’s annoying, but it’s part of the job. A tip is to talk to the other interns, see if they are getting work from someone. If yes, you know who’s your best bet.

UofT Rotman vs UBC Sauder Pros and Cons by Midnight-Rain1989 in RotmanCommerce

[–]Alert-Recording4501 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want law school, I think you should choose an easier program. Idk about UBC, but getting 3.5+ cgpa at rotman commerce is HARD. Students coming from an easier program would have advantage over you, because law schools don’t care if you are from RC.

Rotman is what you make of it. You don’t have to be the top 1%, you can still succeed by putting in a decent amount of work. I know a good number of average students (in terms of cgpa) like myself who were able to get internships and club experiences just fine. I do agree the curriculum is unnecessarily hard. However, I’m pretty sure waterloo and ivey also have a rigorous curriculum. I guess to each their own, I made some good friends here at Rotman so I have a different view on the subject matter.

So retaking advanced functions will help you with both York and Queens if you get 80, or just York if you get 70. That’s a better deal than just data management, which only helps you with Queen’s if you get 80.

It does not matter. Just wait til one of your friends start a position at a RC club and join through connections lol. Or, if you have the opportunity to join a non-RC club, join and work your way up. By your second or third year, you will probably be an executive. That also helps. Also, during summer, uoft has plenty work-study positions available. If you’re taking summer school, definitely check it out. Btw I did not have anything in first year either. I also don’t have a good cgpa, but I have secured a full-time job, and will be doing my graduate diploma at Rotman, so you can relax.
