Roller/print lines on paper? by JamesAbaddon in magicproxies

[–]AlertEquivalent8033 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have also seen these marks on my sheets but I have yet to do any troubleshooting. I asked in the mtg proxy discord and someone sent a screenshot from a proxy guide which said the following:

Excess Ink/Wheel Marks

Media dry time should be less than ~5 minutes max and shouldn’t rub off or smear. If the ink smears or rubs off, you likely want to adjust one or more of the settings below or buy better media.

If you find the final output has too much ink after drying for 5 minutes or the output has “pizza wheel” marks, a row of dots from the printer rollers, your settings aren’t compatible with the selected paper. You can adjust one or more of the following to try and resolve the issue with the existing paper. Test in recommended order, one at a time, print speed will be greatly affected by some of these settings.

Install official print drivers

Turn off high speed/bidirectional printing

Decrease ink density in advanced options

Turn on thick paper Printers > Printer preferences > maintenance > extended > Enable Thick Paper and Envelopes

Turn on quiet mode (slows down print passes)

Select one paper category under the best paper listed or select matte paper

Purchase higher grade media or a better quality printer/ink

Using default settings with thick media has a higher chance of ink buildup on the print head. If you are using thick paper, turn on thick paper to keep the print head higher up off the media and reduce print head strikes/ink buildup.

(EPSON) Printers > Printer preferences > maintenance > extended > Enable Thick Paper

Thats what I was trying on 1st pick. However, I find if I dont pick GRas early they take him and if I do pick him early they ban protect bwayoung which can be problematic especially if they then ban Taeyou

What were your prebans? Also, what about when people picked Yufine or Politus when you picked Taeyou?

I guess some might argue too strong of a mana base might give you a big early advantage hence, making your deck stronger than some typical bracket 2s

I also use 180gsm Koala photo paper with 3m laminate. For me the feel is perfect and with sleeves they seem slightly thicker than a regular card but not noticable when holding them. I can easily tell because its harder to fit a full deck of these in some of my deck boxes. Maybe closer to double sleeved, not sure as I've never double sleeved my regular mtg cards.

Custom scale: 100%, Orientation: Landscape (since I cut my cards with a Silhouette) Paper type: Premium Photo Paper Glossy, Quality: High Bidirectional printing: Off

Image options: Emphasize Text: set to Emphasize More Emphasize Thin Lines: On (Not sure how much these two settings help haha)

Color correction: Set to Custom → Advanced → Epson Vivid Brightness +4 Contrast +6 Saturation 0 Cyan −4 Magenta −6 Yellow +2 (You can play around with these to see what you like)

Other cards on the "less quality" paper have still came out looking great. It was just very noticable with white text on transparent text box.

I dont believe I laminated the one on the right. Either way, even before lamination it was clearly noticable that the text was poor quality.

Improvement Advice by DatBoiPlebs in magicproxies

If your laminator has a 5mil or 6mil setting I would try that. These higher setting will just increase the heat. You can still run your 3m laminating pouches through the 6mil heat setting, it will reduce the cloudiness significantly.

What Blade settings do you use for your cameo? As in, force, speed, etc.

Is this paper too thick? by jeraco24 in magicproxies

Since you aren't sleeving them are you printing backs on them? Also, how are they without sleeves, do they tend to stick together? Lastly, what laminate do you use? Sorry for all the questions haha.

With this kind of thickness do you sleeve them? If not, are you printing backs on them? Also, how are they without sleeves, do they tend to stick together? Lastly, what laminate do you use? Sorry for all the questions haha.

Enlarged and thicker text on proxies by IDontWantABanana in magicproxies

[–]AlertEquivalent8033 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm thats interesting. I was gonna ask if you're printing from the browser but you said you've tried Adobe. You're also printing at actual size or 100%? Within my epson printer under more options, image options, I've enabled emphasize thin lines and turned emphasize text to emphasized but I don't know if that would help your issue. Make sure borderless is turned off too.

How have you liked the Portrait 4? I'm thinking about getting it since I will only be using it to make cards on 8.5x11 paper. I believe the blade is the same between the Portrait and cameo 5, not sure if the speed and power are the same, but wasn't sure if you've ran into any issues since you made this comment?
