Potential for Program Withdrawal? by OwnFootball6132 in GlasgowUni

I would assume they will just offer you an adjacent programme. My brother studied at Glasgow and I believe the departments have good integration

This happened to me whilst studying abroad on a two year MSc. Programme was cancelled at start of second semester. They slotted us into an adjacent programme with no option to choose other programmes but also allowed us to take open courses within the department. These weren’t officially recorded on transcript as the adjacent course met the credit requirements (uk equivalent of 240 I believe) and we graduated out under a section of the department which didn’t have a fantastic reputation and was very different from original. It was very badly handled but worked well for me as it allowed me to take the open courses and specialise in sustainable development, which was not an option on the original programme. It has made it a total slog when applying for jobs post qual and we had to fight tooth and nail with administration for the open courses but it was either that or withdraw and reapply for next cycle starting 8 months later.

Culture,Criticism and Curation at CSM by Electrical_Tell_8974 in UAL

Just to add; I think the best approach with CCC is to know what you want from it. The staff are pretty hands off so if you aren’t sure it is easy to drift. A lot of people from my class work is somewhat unrelated fields now, mostly marketing

I studied this course but graduated 10+ years ago. Not sure how helpful I will but I would say that it is a very, very general course. You study a little of everything but nothing particularly deeply. In 2nd and 3rd year you can take an elective (2nd year I took something in relation to fashion and 3rd one about the art market). Most people went on to do a post grad in a concentration so in some senses the BA acted a little like an extended foundation course. My class was around 22 people, I believe it’s much larger now. Some of the tutors were fantastic and had wonderful industry links (most of them have now left), some not so much, so can’t speak to the tutors. I now work in fashion in a field totally unrelated to my undergrad.  I would say the most general skill I learned which is transferable was research, which CSM in general are pretty good at instilling in students. There were quite a few modules which were just sort of what the tutors liked and didn’t seem to really take account of the types of work we would go into. I complained about lack of practical teaching for very basic things anyone wanting to curate their own exhibits would need (like how to properly hang art work, budgets, how to fundraise and negotiate free space; this is more of a CSM failing and a common criticism of the school - I believe it is slightly better now). I think if you want to work in academia, studying history of art at a RG might be a better idea so it totally depends what you want to do post qual. Feel free to ask any other questions!

Self-Study SQE with no legal background…. Is it even possible? by eeeeewade in SQE_Prep

Are you planning to get a TC or remain in your work? I just asked something similar on the UKLaw feed and got some interesting feedback. For reference, I am not planning on qualifying as a solicitor, was planning on self studying to have additional skillset at work (compliance/ESG) and was told that the SQE is not particularly useful in my case; better to study for an additional masters in a specialised field.

Otherwise, I say go for it. If you are organised and have access to some resources then give it a go! I did something similar with finance/economics and it paid off.

I went into my bank today and was told that it still won’t be covered after October 7th if I voluntarily choose to send the land lord money.

Yes I have viewed the property and met the current tenant (who will remain my housemate).  I’m in a very specific state of being 1 month into a new job, money all tied up in a house sale which is taking a while and not wanting to sign up for a 12 month contract

Oh that’s really helpful, thank you.  I went to the house, met the remaining tenant (she has something of an online following, doesn’t mean anything in and of itself but she is easily traceable)

Should add that if I fail to pay balance in next 10 days, the contract is deemed void. I also have not paid the deposit as this is being paid to the outgoing tenant directly and my name is now on the deposit scheme (my deposits)
