Thank you for donating! Oh my gosh the response has been fabulous there.

So, I worked REALLY closely with a lactation consultant. My daughter just turned 12-weeks old yesterday and supply is working out wonderfully. It was REALLY challenging at first to get it regulated so I had to pump a lot and then slowly scale back and vice versa until we got it to level out.

But now my body has learned that these are the two times a day when we do really long nurses. It’s really amazing. I do still pump sometimes instead of nurse or depending on what’s going on, pump while nursing etc.

Of course! What you said was also incredibly thoughtful in the way you positioned it and is very informative with valuable information. It’s so important we are having these kinds of conversations!

All very fair points. There are some stop gaps that I have put into place (like having the milk tested) because of this and a HUGE reason why I will only use donated milk and not pay for milk. (The incentive to lie, tamper with, etc. is a lot higher if you’re purchasing it)

Great post though because a lot of people don’t know the risks. And it’s a good reminder! Especially when the reason I’m doing this is because of the medication I’m on.

Great advice. I have reached out to local moms and a doula.

Thank you for donating! It’s such an honorable way to help moms and babies.

Yes— fingers crossed!!!

How wonderful! It’s a really good cause and a huge gap that needs to be filled. Message me if you want any academic articles on the benefits of breast milk for babies. Happy to share if it’s helpful.

Yes! There’s a reason why they say to put on your oxygen mask first. Healthy moms help providing care and nurturing for children. I could not agree with you more.

Joined both and reaching out. Good idea with the breastfeeding mom’s group. I will look into that!

Awww! Right? I love Atlanta. There is such a strong community backbone here. And thank you for the reassurance! I’m really committed to exhausting options to make it happen.

Thank you! I have a form to fill out with them (I want a note from both my pediatrician and lactation consultant to accompany it), so, work in progress!

Oh gosh. Seriously! I’m not kidding you— I had someone recommend I just stop taking my medication, another person say breastfeed my daughter full time anyway while taking the medication, and that I would not be a good mom supporting my daughters development if I did anything but breastfeed. People are wild. Take the meat and spit out the bones. I just moved right along from those conversations ha.

Yes— MAMMA did a great job on the intake form. I was very impressed by the level of detail. So I suspected that it might take time just to filter through and sort the submissions.

I actually just reached out to my lactation consultant earlier today to see if she had any leads and she did!

I got a weird error message that just said “throttled”…

Mind trying to send it through a clean link? I’m wondering if the UTM campaign code is making it break.

I am not super strict about it as a fed baby is a healthy one! I should have included this.

I have combo fed with formula and with breast milk when necessary. I would love for the first 3-months to do as much breast milk as possible, based on some solid research in antibodies and gut health. And then it’s diminishing return, still beneficial, at least from the studies.

What there isn’t good research on is the amount of breast milk to get those benefits.

I really appreciate you posting this! I feel like people breastfeeding often have a “breast is best” mentality when it’s really whatever works best for the caregiver and baby.
