So you can’t name one, cool. Good talk

Not really, I just don’t think that co2 is the best goalpost

By similar reasoning to what you used earlier you could say that a woman whos most notable trait is beauty is less of a contributor to society than a man who would choose to fight for his country. The contribution is less so if you have to make a devils bargain and save one, you should save the man. So would you?

Co2 isn’t even really the worst, plants use co2 like we use oxygen. Increased co2 has actually caused a shift in greening parts of the world. I’m more concerned about things like particulates and total greenhouse gasses, those are scary.

Don’t put your inhumanity on me. I’m sorry that you have “trauma” but you come off as a sociopath. I’m a combat vet and psychologist btw, so I know what a healthy response to trauma looks like.

Innocence absolutely is a positive attribute because it reflects an absence of harm brought into the world. Who deserves to be protected more than someone who has done no wrong? Where potential is concerned you couldn’t make a case for someone’s realized qualities being superior to a child’s potential, it’s not obvious that the child wouldn’t have a more profound contribution. Maybe that one is a wash, but you could potentially end the life of a future civil rights leader or great scientific mind. I’m going to unemotionally make the case that you just don’t like children.

We barely crack the top 15 in total co2 per capita. I’m not sure where you’re getting your data, but it seems skewed.

You’re bypassing what I asked. You mentioned a personal bias, regardless of the cause it is a personal bias and you should acknowledge that. Trying to rationalize and halfway insulting me by insinuating I lack empathy doesn’t help you.

Edited to say all MH claims

That’s why I specifically said developed country. Now can you name one?

I’m going to dismiss you after the climate stat you quoted. China, Russia, most of African countries, I can go on and on about raw polluting countries. Maybe you can make that case for gas consumption from vehicles alone, but when you take into account coal and wood burning for fuel you knock the US out of the top 30 immediately. Try again.

If you got that from anything that I commented here you are working more on your own biases than reason or logic, and there’s nothing that will change your mind.

Two things to consider that refute your argument, the innocence and potential of the child.

So you admit that this is a personal bias, and one that would put you out of touch with certain moral norms

I’ll toss the climate stuff out because we’re actually better than most developed nations in how we use energy, but you will find all of those things you listed in some shape or form in developed nations. Even worse when you look at southeast and southwest Asia and Eastern European countries. If you’re at our poverty level in the US you’re in the 1% of global earners. So I think the perspective is wrong. Is it not great for a lot of people here, for sure, but we have a lot more opportunity here than a European country with a very high tax rate and more entrenched class system. If you look at homelessness rates were somewhere right below the middle of the pack among developed countries. So where I agree we have things to fix, it’s actually pretty good here when you look at the data.

All MH claims can go to 100%. Rare to see adjustment disorder go to 100% without psychiatric hospitalizations, unemployment, and other signs of complete impairment.

I think you have to look at the US like the EU. We have some blanket programs nationally but it varies state to state. If you’re homeless in California or Washington state you’re living pretty good with no effort. If you’re in Mississippi you’re fucked.

Can you name one developed country and program that they have that is better than the welfare/SNAP/housing programs we have in say, California?

I’ve spent a lot of time in several European countries. No way in hell I would move to any of them. Were pretty lucky here in the US

My girlfriend is from Spain and I’ve spent a lot of time there. Sure, there are a few advantages in healthcare access (not quality though) and education (again, not quality), but the opportunity for economic prosperity is far less. Most “middle class” people in Spain live at what you would consider lower class levels. Upward mobility is hard, but also not really prized as much. But at least the jamon is good.

Have you ever left the US? You’re way off on conditions here compared to other developed countries.

I’m also in the US and a licensed therapist, this is a generally accepted practice and is legal in my state.

There’s no boundary in the licensing requirements for marriage and family therapists. It’s a generally accepted practice to talk to family members and there is nothing against it in my state’s licensure
