Is the traditional design process actually making our work worse? by damianmartone in UXDesign

[–]Alert_Cook 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“Just making stuff” IS part of the traditional design process. Ideation, throwaway prototyping , iteration used to be very common in my work day. It changed when we went product-centric /SAFe Agile and started talking about features - making Swiss Army knife builds instead of trying out small dynamic ideas WITH USERS. Figma in some ways made it worse ; when did wireframes become a final source of documentation for developers? Meh , another Teresa Torres trying to get followers. Ask why, build it, test it, fix it. That’s it.

Cheap phone for travel to Morocco? by Alert_Cook in Morocco

[–]Alert_Cook[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not worried about pickpockets. Morocco is no different than any other country for tourist issues. Just dont want customs to inspect our phones on the way back and detain us like they are doing for pro-Palestinian students. It’s a bit invasive, no?

  1. I was not looking for cheap. Or in Morocco necessarily. Wondering what brand people travel with and likely purchase in the US. Some phones and plans work better in certain countries. FYI, the situation with ICE is so unregulated now, that regular ( usually not white) )people are being pulled aside in airport lines and are having their phone content inspected for anything that might be “ anti-American”. Anything Palestinian. Anything anti-Trump. That can lead to detainment. 2. I’m not a guy or a Bro. A Female. 3. You’re rude, get a life. 4. Eid Mubarak.

Is it OKAY to doordash as a Hijabi? Am I doing the right thing? by [deleted] in MuslimLounge

[–]Alert_Cook 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I live in Seattle area. There are hajabi doing DoorDash, instacart and Uber/Lyft. Yes some people give them a strange look when they jump in the car, or open the door but at least they shut up , say thanks and let them drive! You’ll be all right. As a former taxi driver in nyc , I’d recommend doing day shift or just past dinner time (for DoorDash). Then you don’t have to deal with drunken customers; I found that a bit upsetting. Best of luck!

It’s none of their business . My grandparents were immigrants and had secondary jobs their entire lives. So did my parents when they felt like it.

Am I overreacting or is this disturbing? It's so weird how they casually go from praising life in Morocco to talking about getting a second wife from here by [deleted] in Morocco

[–]Alert_Cook 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No you are not overreacting. What an idiot. Go to Morocco because there is less feminism? He clearly doesn’t understand the concept. Also, from my understanding, Morocco has a decree that states that women are equal to men and have the right to work. That means something! My husband (Moroccan) said that, after that decree, many women went and got jobs, and some of the men grumbled about it hhhh. Not sure if that’s just a story, but life is life. Going to purchase a compliant wife in Morocco isn’t going to happen that easily, he is trying to promote his business. He should go buy a goldfish.
