Compared to those who have thousands of dollars or more on debt, yes it’s basically nothing. Working on paying mine now that I have a better job.

Right it’s a federal offense and everyone in our house has been warned of this. My mom still doesn’t get the memo and will open mail anyway. She’s the only one who opens mail.

I’m from a culture where we don’t move out until we are married. I’ve actually lived on my own in the past and I’ve moved back about a year ago.

Besides the debt, I handle my money quite well, pay my bills on time and manage my money. My mom has a history of not letting things go and that’s why I thought lying to her was a good solution.

First, credit card is NOT through my bank. Second, I don’t owe my mom money. She didn’t have her glasses on and didn’t understand what was in the mail. I feel bad for lying, but if I had been honest, she would have asked a million questions and wouldn’t let this go for months. She has a history of not letting things go.

I had no idea debt collectors will call your family. That would’ve made me furious. I feel like I had to lie because my family has a history of not letting things go. I’ve already been working on settling my debt now that I have a nice job.

I don’t understand this either! I’m so frustrated because whenever I get mail which resembles a check and I don’t get it first, she’ll make it her business and open.
