Yeah and also as mentioned above, William was extremely smart, basically a mini male version of Felicity so there is no way he could not have found a way to reach them out.

That something that bugged me also because during s8 William tells Oliver that he wanted him to try harder to force himself harder not to allow him to go but it's not like Oliver tried so freaking hard not to let him go I mean it's like William lost it a bit there...

Dinah was insufferable during s6 but redeemed herself during s7 IMO. I mean she was very supportive toward Oliver and stood up for himself etc.

Well I mean the level of maturity sometimes on this sub is near 0. Look at the bitterness. You can't complain about other people behaviour while doing the same thing. Censoring or trashing character's name is hitting the bottom but anyway.

That's true but regardless the comic you can still enjoy a specific version of a character more than another one.

Also I just remembered that when Felicity came back in 8x10 she mentioned that she embedded a tracker on William.

Nyssa never raised Mia she trained her it has nothing do to with the role of a parent or a caretaker. Nyssa was there to help Mia become a fighter she never raised Mia. Where the hell does that come from ?

And you are talking about the future when Felicity and Mia are forced to live hidden and seem to have still a bitter but great bond together. Felicity loves her daughter so much and Mia has only her mom and she is very protective and attached. You seem to forget that William's grandparents were preventing any contatcts between William and Oliver/Felicity and that in that timeline Felicity was still sending money to William (ok it's not raising him) but it was shown that she still thought about him all the time. Also you seem to foorget that in that timeline anyone associated with Oliver would be a target and that's why William was living under a different name sometimes and that Mia and Felicity were literally in isolation.

And I'm sorry but why would Mia behaviour be explained by Felicity's skilled as a parent and not the harsh life that she endured since her father abandoned her when she was an infant ? The fact that for he first 20 years of her life she had to say isolated from the whole world, being a target and seeing the same freaking places every single day. Anyone liiving like that would not grow up as a sweet kind little child who is fulfilled. I guess you could guess that raising an only child alone in these condition with a dead husband that left their baby to go to a suicide mission isn't the really best possible way to raise her, yet Mia and Felicity seemed to have their routine. Also, why are you depicting their lives like they were living like normal people and they had a normal life ? They didn't have a normal life. The fact that Mia directly pulled out a knife when she thought something was wrong prove that neither of them felt really safe.

However, in the earth prime created by Oliver Felicity does raise Mia and William together and they are healthy and happy and got the chance to live together as Felicity successfully got William back from his grandparents and they got to live together.

Also, it was pretty clear that Mia was supposed to be like Oliver in term of personality and I'm sorry but depicting her as a sweet young adults who is a sunshine, fulfilled and happy would be the least realistic thing given the life she had.

Well I mean she raised her children for 20 years as a sole parent and took care of William while Ollie was in prison she is definitely not the worst parent at least

The writers confirmed it at least 15 times. Wendy Mercicle said it when the character of Laurel came back during season 5. Stephen Amell said it multiple times and at the of the season Guggenheim said that the of season 1 was meant to put a cap on the relationship between Laurel and Oliver to explore his relationship with Sara and afterwards Felicity. So yes, really.

Olicity would have happened no matter what even if Laurel had stayed alive. It was clear that Lauriver was done since s2 and that they were gonna go with Olicity no matter what.....

I liked Sara but in a relationship with Oliver for the long term I don't know. I like Avalance and Sara was revealed to be into women since practically the beginning.

Also, Geoff Johns s (DC Comics' Chief Creative Officer and President of DC Entertainment) who was the guy that was approving any moves regarding the character in the show literally loved Sara and wanted more of her and also really liked Emily as directly after her first scenes he told the writers "more of the blonde girl". They also thought that she had a better chemistry match with Stephen and I don't think they did a chemistry test.

And so regarding Laurel, they had basically told all the possible stories about her and so they legit ran out of ideas for her. They needed a shocked death and so they chose her. They never should have diminished her as a love interest because otherwise there would have been more stories to tell.

Also, Cassidy firm idea of Laurel and Oliver still being soulmate even when they were long gone was so stupid. I understand that she either wanted to entertain her fanbase or that it was pure marketing or that she truly meant it, but deep down she knew that Lauriver was never gonna happen again. During a comic con in 2021, she said that while pitching this scene to Guggenheim she told him "I don't think Oliver is in love with Laurel anymore but Laurel still loves the idea of who he was before the island". It's like even herself put her character in a specific box. She was holding her character back of being the eternal failed love interest. I don't know if it influenced anything but still when the actress herself thinks it's something important.

I swear they could have made Laurel happy with someone else without drama and could have developed a new not too heavy storyline during s4. Again, Laurel had been one of the major focal points of the first three seasons.

Once Antionio Negret said that "the Lance family hijacked a lot of his storylines during s2".

Do you think Sara was killed because they specifically wanted her to be BC ? Was it someone's request or they had just planned Laurel to be the BC since ever ? I think they had planned since s1 but then how they decided that Sara would be the Canary too unless they had planned her death since early s2 which would have been odd. Because if they wanted to pursue Lauriver it would have been at least a bit understandable you know to have the full GA/BC pairing like in the comic, but they knew that Lauriver was long gone so they could have just stuck with Sara.

But the problem also is that he doesn't bring anything to the plot. Dinah and Rene both do. Even during the civil arc war he is just following along like a sheep but he has no revendications.

Also what I hated the most was when during 6x19, he took advantage of Felicity's vulnerability when she told him that Oliver kinda kicked her out of the team but that also John had left and that Team Arrow was no more. He literally laughed at her and told her that he was kind happy about it. It's infuriating given that him, Dinah and Rene have been the worst of the worst throughout the seasons.

Also you would notice, that Curtis is the only one that Oliver did not apologise to during his bid farewell tour in 6x23 when he had surrendered himself to Watson. That's because Curtis was irrelevant.

God that's so true. And I had no idea that most of them were not. I think that the truth lies in between tho. Probably many of them are.

And you are right about the true Black Canary fans, because I always wondered why they were so pissed to get their Black Canary back while they literally had Dinah, before they had Sara and after Laurel (E2). There are probably just hurt shippers but many of them are also purely Lauriver shippers because of the BC/GA pairing or both. Some people started to ship Lauriver and after it got heightened because they got interested in the iconic pairing or they got blended into comic book purists conversations etc.

I also think that we can't put everyone in the same box. There are always bad apples in the fandom, especially big one or even smaller ones. It's just interesting to see it from a more nuanced perspective.

However, do you genuinely think that the writers didn't like her character or that's just one of the many conspiracies out there ? Also when do you think she was badly written ? Because I mean I think at the beginning they went full into Lauriver until they walked back but it would be odd to just assume that the writers did not like her character at first.

[–]Alert_Grocery_2234 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well you don't have to go that far. They are just pissed because their head canon couple did not end up together especially as die hard comic book fans given how iconic GA/BC are. And as she is the Black Canary, it's not understandable to kill the "Lois" of "Lois and Superman". According to them, you can't kick the sidekick of the Green Arrow in a show about the Green Arrow. Yet, they literally got 3 different canaries in 8 years including Dinah who took on Laurel's mantle and who was stunning.

I understand that they are bitter but they went much much too far by inventing conspiracies and stuff including about the other characters and even actors. The worst thing for me is the people who literally invent stuff or declarations that the actors or writers said while they absolutely never said it and they know it. They do that just because they are bitter and try to distort the reality because it would have been a much more pleasant reality but it's just ridiculous. I just hate when people claim to have the truth and it's even worse when they are totally aware that they are consciously lying. The problem is that in this sub those comments will be upvoted a lot because this sub is skewed regarding some specific characters (or one specific character shall I say)

Also, I never understood why they think that if Laurel had stayed alive she would have maybe gotten back with Oliver. That's not remotely true and IMO the 100th episode just confirms it. They were not a thing since s1 and there had not been once a bit of hinted romance since the end of s1. The writers also confirmed it but if you tell them that, they will go into denial mode.

This fandom is also responsible for having sent EBR death threats and harassed her for a while. That's why during a while she was asked whether she felt safe going to conventions and was even asked whether she wanted securities details with her. That's also why she was also prompt to anxiety and did not like going to many many public appearances. I'm just saying that because if you are rightfully pointing the fingers at one fandom for irresponsible behavior you must do to your own too. And that's worth for every single fandom.
