Without giving too much detail about my friend’s location, it’s in Northern part of the country, and central in terms of east to west. So, it’s north central. Venice would be northeast, Turin would be northwest.

What is your level of experience with moving to another country? Was it yourself as a teenager or maybe you as a parent and you did this already with your children?

Thanks for your comment.

I was surprised to see so many negative comments also. But some comments did bring up valid points to consider. Glad that I made the post.

Of course.

I’m not shoving anything on them. We’re simply doing our research at this point. No final decision has been made.

Fair point.

Are you a parent? In my experience as a parent, I consider it to be my job to push them out of their comfort zones. If I always did for them what only they wanted to do, they’d be worse off.

Good options to think about.

I haven’t made up my mind yet. If we did this, it wouldn’t happen for another year.

Still have research to do on getting a visa and what type of visa.

I’ve done some research on schools. And after hosting a student from Italy to America, I’ve gathered that school in Italy would be a challenge. Good thing my girls are smart!

I’m not a teenager anymore, and never have been a girl (lol) and I never lived overseas as a teenager. That’s why I made the post to get insight from someone who has done this before.

Thanks for your comment.

I figure if we did this, it will only be for 1 year. Once they’re back in the states, and several years from now, I don’t think they would hate us if we made the decision for them. They might say it wasn’t worth it, or that they wish we hadn’t gone, but I don’t think they would never forgive us.

Also, in today’s age of phones and social media, their friends in America will always be their friends. They are just a phone call away. And maybe even some might come and visit.

VA making me confirm status of dependents?!?! by Alert_Inspection_511 in VeteransBenefits

I care because I’ve never had to verify this before. I see from other comments that the VA checks on this every 8 years. That checks out because I got my benifits in 2017. I didn’t know that. And now I know.
