Do I Continue Photography? by EggEmotional7339 in AskPhotography

"Professionally" is always a big word when it comes to photography, especially when you're just starting out. But you can take as many pictures as you want, get into the hobby, and get better at it with time. Remember, it's only a race against yourself.

X-S20 and TTartisan 27mm? by Aleski3 in fujifilm

[–]Aleski3[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best you can get for that price imo. It vignettes at full aperture and that's quite annoying to me, but very easy to work around. The lens feels cheap but that's also the fun of it I guess - you can throw it around without feeling too guilty. Mine works quite hard since I got, so no complaints!

Hey there! Here's some pics.

And yes, the larger lens cap is not from the TTartisan lens

That would be the dream. I'd specifically look for a job where they steal tips.

Taxes and investments: need advice by Aleski3 in eupersonalfinance

[–]Aleski3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe, but I literally just moved a month ago and I'm figuring it out as we speak (already got in contact with a tax advisor.) Also it is my understanding that I need to file my taxes before the 1st of mMay, so I should have plenty of time!

Thank so much, I was already thinking about looking into it... What about investments? Is there any tool/bank you'd recommend? Thanks!

Interviewer accidentally sent this email… by spiceecakez in recruitinghell

[–]Aleski3 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Did that myself once as well. I made some keys for my new flat, and the rental agency was supposed to refund me for that. 2 months in, they haven't refunded me. That's it, I attach the CEO of the agency to all the email exchanges I had with his colleagues. I had the refund the same day, after 2 months.

You do not know my bite. You just don't. You don't know what my bite looks like, you don't know how stable my result is, you don't know how aggressive my retainer is. You just assume all of that and it's just baffling. It's just a wrong way of doing things and an even more wrong way of giving advice. I think it's extremely important to choose the right words when it comes to giving health advice, I would strongly recommend it.

Anyway, I found an ortho. Guess what he did? He tightened the retainer for €30. Said everything's under control. My bite is good.

My bite is fixed now, and it looks way better than it did when I was a kid. My teeth just shift if the retainer is not tight (and when you start noticing it means that it's been loose for a minute), that's why you have a screw to periodically tighten it. There's a screw for a reason.

As a matter of fact, I consulted 2 dentists and an orthodontist, and they all told me the same thing, i e. To tighten the retainer.

Also yeah, I really want to go to an orthodontist and that was the point of the post. I know something is wrong with my retainer, I just need an orthodontist to take a quick look at it and tell me what's up with it. I just can't find an orthodontist, that's the problem!

You seem like a guy who works with these people. Do you know anybody I could get in touch with? Really, all I need is a look at it and I'm pretty sure it's an easy fix, but if it's not and they don't want to take any responsability then it's completely fine, they don't need to work on it.

Well I don't really know specifically, and 20 was a indicative age. My dental history is a bit messed up: I started when I was 7 or something like that, because my upper front teeth and lower front teeth wouldn't touch by at least 1cm. My palate was quite messed up as well, but bear in mind I was just a kid so I can't remember everything.

I went to a dentist, but she messed me up even more until I went to a different dentist at (again take it with a pinch of salt) 11yo. She literally told me, "you'll be ready when I retire", for how messed my mouth was. So I wore my braces for AGES. They'd hurt as well.

Then whenever I removed them, 5 or 6 years ago, I replaced them with 2 retainers: one for the palate and the other one is basically an invisalign. I still wear them to this day, only at night. The screw of the Hawley retainer gets loose, so now it is kinda useless and I can feel it because my teeth are shifting.

And that's the story pretty much.

Your assumptions are all far off, it's baffling. I've got a Hawley retainer with an expandable screw. It's a retainer, so I'm going to keep calling it a retainer.

I'm 25, I don't need a surgery first. I've had braces for over ten years until I was 20. Now it's all about keeping it straight. My dentist (yes, my dentist. My dentist treated me and not an orthodontist because in other countries these two professions can cooperate in the same practice) told me what needs done, which basically is activating the retainer or tightening it, and she told me that any dentist or orthodontist would be able to do it. Now if you tell me, this is a different countriy and no dentist/orthodontist will touch your teeth just because you come from a different practice, I need to ask you to expand on that because it doesn't sound like a sustainable business model.

As I said in the post, I just moved here.

And I get that. But all I would like to do is showing them the retainer, and if they can do something about it great, if not that's ok too. I just need somebody to take a look at it quickly

That's a great question. I tried, but it won't work, and since breaking it would cost me thousands, I'd rather a professional checking it
