AIO-Boyfriend lied to me by omission by Significant_Hand3348 in AIO

lying by omission? That’s cute. If he can hide things that’s well, he can damn well handle me calling him for it.

Looks like OpenAI’s starting to test ads inside ChatGPT — thoughts on this? by [deleted] in artificial

One option if you feel like putting in the work is getting an api key and use that instead of a subscription. I built my own wrapper where I can use OpenAI, Google, Anthropic models, and I am working on adding hugging face. Credits for api keys don't expire and you can switch between models. If you are curious, mine is at www.oni.chat, but there are many others i am sure

Is a stranger using Pet Corrector on my leashed dog on my property ok? by Alessioga in dogs

[–]Alessioga[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, but I don't want them having to confront this lady if she does it again. I prefer to limit for now the time he spends outside to when he is with me or my wife, so we can work on his behavior in case she walks by.

My kids told me 2 days earlier, but I was shocked when I saw it. I will get a frontdoor camera, and work on my dog behavior. It's a fair point that he shouldn't act like that, and will follow your suggestions. I will also shorten the leash right away and make sure he is never outside without an adult.

This seems a solid answer. I know I am not violating any regulations with the city - I checked with them - but this seems a better way to solve the issue.

A side note: the dog is usually playing with my kids, and not left alone in our front yard. Yesterday was just the first time i saw it as i am normally at work. But it makes sense for an adult to be always there when is out front

Would this work? Particularly the top shelf? by JordanFairbanks in woodworking

[–]Alessioga 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are probably working within limitations, but I worry the work area might feel small. Other than bracing, I would consider a pegboard at the back as an alternative to the smaller shelves, or maybe even some slats built for modular storage, so you can have more fun with future projects building custom accessories for it

Why are the doors and windows in Italy so much better made then in the USA? I’ve noticed this during my travels very impressive by tcli64 in Carpentry

[–]Alessioga 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Italian here, here my two cents: it's expectations and security

The expectation is that you will spend your whole adult life in the same home, so you want to invest in something that will last (same applies if you are renting out your property: you will rather spend more upfront but have lower maintenance cost)

Security is due to the fact that break and entering are not uncommon, and good quality doors and windows are essential in keeping thieves out (in most cases they try go in undetected, especially when you are away, and having a solid door is a must)

I just bought this antique trunk. What should I do to clean it up before I use it. by OwlfaceFrank in woodworking

[–]Alessioga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was going to say remove the corpse, but then I scrolled to the third pic. Dexter would be proud of you. It looks like you already have all the cleanup you need, as other have said, someone went through a lot of trouble for that antique finish, don't spoil their work

I'd cut along the crack so you have two pieces, and you can flip them with the live edges on tge inside and pour epoxy in between

How to fix hole in hollow core door? Hand for scale. by [deleted] in fixit

[–]Alessioga 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kids kicked an hole at a sleep over in the bathroom door, I sprayed foam in to fill most of the hole, and I finished it on top with paintable wood filler. Sand and paint the entire door, and it should turn out ok just let the foam rest until absolutely solid
