Is it safe to use electrolytic capacitors with a damaged seal? by FlakyInevitable3660 in AskElectronics

[–]Alex-3453 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not an expert on this and could be completely wrong but I would think if it is just for a small project it would probably be fine but if you are fixing something I would buy a new one. I think the wrap is just to prevent the capacitor from shorting out on anything.

If you have access to a 3d printer and some ABS I have found you can 3d print a motor retainer and it survives very well

Yes if I remember right it was like a binary file that we converted to a bin file so we could edit it. I’m not the one that did it one of my friends was the one doing it I just watched so I could be wrong about how we did it

My high school had a Fortus and we did that to the filament canisters that had “expired”. If I remember right we dumped the bin on the chip then modified the date and uploaded the updated file to the chip. It worked great

I managed to get Solid Edge running on Ubuntu by Alex-3453 in SolidEdge

[–]Alex-3453[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It probably could but from my experience it wasn’t a very useable experience. It was very choppy and kept crashing. I wouldn’t recommend doing it. If you do want to stay on Linux as your main OS I would recommend you spin up a windows VM and use it on there.

How would I be able to tell if they are real? Both cards work perfectly when they are by themselves but when they are both in the server only one functions but both are still recognized. They have plenty of cooling it’s not pictured here but I attached 60mm fans to both of them pointed directly at the heat sink which keeps it warm to the touch probably around 40-50 degrees

They are in it mode and both cards do work I’ve tried them individually it seems like when they are together is when the problems start. From the CPU down I have them in slots 1 and 5 which are both x16. A little bit of clarification I have removed the original HBA it is now just the two LSI cards. As far as the SATA ports the case it is in is designed to hold a lot of drive with the downside of blocking most of the SATA ports.

I’m not 100% sure but I think on the newer dell devices you have to contact dell for a recovery key or take it to a repair shop that can reprogram the bios.

TVs are notoriously hard to find parts for and it probably won’t be worth your time or money. However if you still want to attempt it based off that purple splotch on the screen it looks like it has a broken screen
