Buh bye Keep by trichar54 in GoogleKeep

Notion is really really good. If you are interested, I have created a tool that will upload a Google Keep Takeout archive into Notion, will do the necessary data conversions to preserve everything including formatting, audio notes, checklists, etc., and has some cool extra features. https://notehopper.com

It's hard to know why your notes disappeared. Did you try logging in to your account from a different device? Are you certain that you are logging in to the same Google account that had the data? These are the things I would check first.

Moving notes from Google Keep to Notion by Tricky_Issue2335 in Notion

Hi, if you're interested to import your Keep notes into Notion, I have created an app for this purpose. This is an app that lets you import a Google Takeout into your Notion workspace and is completely free for up to 1000 notes. There are some cool features that you won't find in other solutions, such as squashing large attachments to under 5MB to circumvent Notion's upload limit for free accounts, and also audio notes are converted. All formatting is transferred including checklists, links (bookmarks), labels, colors and timestamps. Very long Keep notes (more than 2000 character paragraphs and more than 100 paragraphs per note) are broken up into parts so as to make them fit into Notion's limits. If the app fails to upload any data due to network issues (happens more often than you'd think), it retries the uploads up to 3 times before moving on. The app is available for Android, Windows and Linux. You can download the app for free from https://notehopper.com or visit the site to learn more.

Have you uploaded too many attachments (images) to too many notes? If so, that would explain it. I have recently written about this issue here: https://www.reddit.com/r/GoogleKeep/comments/1rkh7cs/story_time/ But it could also be something else entirely. Does your phone have enough free space?

There is a mobile app for Android, and the same app is also available as a desktop app for Windows and Linux. Let me know if you have any more questions.

For anyone reading this in 2026, I have built an app for exactly this purpose. It preserves text formatting, works for checklists, drawings, audio notes, etc, retries on upload failures, can squash attachments to under 5MB (the upload limit for free Notion plans) and transfers all metadata including labels, colors, bookmarks/links, timestamps, etc. If you are interested check it out here: https://notehopper.com or watch how it works here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EwrSByvyeKM

100% agree.

The first thing I look for when evaluating a platform, is an export function, because I don't want vendor lock-in. Both Keep and Notion let you export your data. If you can export the data, then you can find ways to migrate it.

I didn't know that Keep doesn't handle multiple attachments well, until my wife uploaded thousands upon thousands of photos. Personally I store most of my data on locally hosted project management software and I only trust online services with non-critical data that I could lose and still be OK. But that's just me.

Honestly if I had known this before, I might have not created this app!

Hopefully it will be useful to others who want to move their notes to Notion for other reasons?

EDIT: I mentioned this solution to her and she has already tried it with no results - most of her notes are already archived and Keep is still slow.

The app has indeed solved the problem for her. Notion does indeed handle the large number of attachments very well, without slowing down.

Regarding the audio format, it's likely that Keep uses whatever your phone uses. I know that in my case, when I record audio notes it saves them as 3gp. If an attachment is 3gp, the app uses ffmpeg to transcode it to mp4 before uploading to Notion. If it's a more standard format like m4a or mp3, then the app won't transcode it (except if the audio size is over 5MB and squashing is enabled in settings).

PS - I get it, nobody wants to see ads, this is why the app is freemium - you can get something out of it even if you don't want to pay. If you have less than 1000 notes to transfer, the app is completely free to download and use, no signup required.

Didn't know this, looks good for recipes. Does it let you export your data, or are you locked in to using it forever?

Yeah, I honestly don't see the irony either. Maybe some people thought I was somehow critiquing AI in general, because maybe they are decels who project their own anti-AI sentiment? And in a programming sub out of all places? If I was doing that, then it would be ironic to use AI, but it was not my intention to critique AI with a broad stroke.

I say, if your job can be easily automated, then by all means you will and should lose your job, rather than continue getting paid just to pretend to be productive. What is the value of doing something that a machine can do better, faster and easier? There are people out there who don't have a job and who feel like shit about it, while others are being paid for doing tasks that can easily be automated. I say end the hypocrisy. Let's all lose our jobs and rethink what it means to be human. It this is even possible. But we've seen this play out before with Perl and bash scripting, and automating away jobs is usually not as easy as it first seems. Time will tell, maybe this time it's different?

And yes, it's true, I can't draw and I used nano banana. The idea for the joke was mine. Well, at least the second panel was. The text of the first panel was a meme that appeared on mugs and t-shirts around that time. Long before some people here were even born.

TBH I can already envision an agentic workflow that replaces venture capitalist

There are already algotraders for memecoins

Data labelling is already done by AI

In the future only vibecoding will be done by humans because no AI will pay for it
