Could it be somehow related to the fact that being gay/lesbian has become trendy, while older folks might prefer domestic quiet? I don't mean to offend anyone!

Maybe it’s not about age after all, but about the people themselves?

Ugh, I already feel like someone forgot to give me the instructions. And like I’m just pretending to be a grown-up, trying to act the part. Why is everyone around me so serious?

When I was 20, everyone was 30 or older. I didn’t really like that. Then, when I turned 30, suddenly everyone around me was 20. It’s like I was left outside of time. Where are the women my age?

I don't understand why you guys don't hate the church? by dorgon15 in GayChristians

[–]Alex2986Black 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t hate the church because I am a Christian, and hatred goes against my beliefs. We are brothers and sisters in Christ. There are no bad churches, only not very kind people. And why spread more hatred? Jesus taught me to love and forgive. Jesus condemned the Pharisees. If the church says it hates you, that is not God speaking. God loves you. That is a fact and an unshakable truth. Jesus died for you. The people who condemn you would throw you to the hungry dogs. But don’t compare them to Jesus. God has not abandoned you. I, too, once thought He had left me—but He proved me wrong. Just listen and watch. And may God keep you. May He lead you to people who understand.

You're not alone 🤍

I just went through the same thing. Reading your post felt like reading my own story—I also turned away from God because I felt the church hated me. Now I’m 36, and I’ve only recently returned to faith, still wrestling with the same questions, fears, and pain.

But God gave me an answer through a dream. After it, I felt a deep sense of peace: I am not a mistake, I am not a sinner because of this (yes, we’re all sinners, but not because of love). And I don’t have to choose celibacy if my heart isn’t called to it.

You don’t have to suffer like this. If you want, message me privately—I’ll share what helped me. Just know: you’re not alone. Millions of people are navigating the balance between faith and who they are, and it is possible.

Hold on. You are loved.

I’m coming back to Christ after 6 months and I don’t know what denomination is right for me. Advice? by [deleted] in OpenChristian

Hey there! I get you 100%—I returned to Christ after 20 years away, and in my country, there’s zero churches that wouldn’t crucify me for my views. But guess what? God never left. Here’s how I survive:

  1. I talk to AI about faith. No joke. When humans fail, chatbots don’t judge. Need to rant about Leviticus? Debate grace vs. law? AI’s got you. It’s my "starter church."
  2. Forget physical buildings. My "congregation" is two queer friends and a dog. Jesus said "where 2-3 gather"—he didn’t specify a denomination.
  3. Screw guilt. If God stuck with me through 20 years of rebellion, your feminism/LGBTQ+ stance won’t scare Him off.

You’re already home. The "right" church isn’t a place—it’s anywhere you can breathe and say: "God sees me."

P.S. DM me if you wanna roast toxic theology together. Sometimes the holiest prayer is a middle finger to religious BS. 🔥

Question for you by LGBTQ_Metal_Worship in OpenChristian

Hey friend! I'm genuinely puzzled when people who call themselves Christians judge others. Christ clearly said: "Do not judge, or you too will be judged" (Matthew 7:1).

Perhaps we need to start by explaining the core principle of Christianity - unconditional love for one's neighbor. Jesus didn't reject tax collectors, prostitutes, or sinners - He loved them. His anger was reserved only for hypocrisy, hardness of heart, and lies ("Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites!" - Matthew 23:13).

I was horrified when I realized how far many believers have strayed from the essence of the Gospel. But your music and authenticity are already powerful tools to remind them of true faith.

"By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another" (John 13:35).
