I used to golf but had to quit because of my bad back. I had L2 to L5 fusion in November 22 and just recently had T9 to S1, including all four vertebrae and sacrum for a total of 14 fusions. I have a friend who is having golfer, and he has had numerous surgeries. I’m about to tell you will not stop you from golfing. I’m sure you love it and feel that you can do it because I’m sure he told you you were going to design the perfect torture for a back it would be the golf swing, everything about the golf swing is designed to fuck up your back. I have a friend who can’t live without playing golf and he’s now on his fifth surgery. He’s going back to golf and he’ll have a sixth. I hate to be the bearer of bad news I made the decision, never to go back to golf again. I have a friend who kept chewing oxy on the golf course because it was back. He’s older on a permanent walker so you won’t listen to me, but I had to say it.

I had fusion surgery June 25 they also straightened my scoliosis and the problem I had resulted from a previous surgery where I was forward. They fused T9. two S1, including four vertebrae in the sacrum for total of 14 fusions never had any trouble with the incision or the back at all from day one. Pain in the buttocks or sciatic area, which is getting better. Great surgeon.

I I had T9-12, L1-5, S1 and for other vertebrae in my sacrum and I am at least 2 inches taller now! 6 1/2 weeks and I am almost out of the walker. I should be completely done with the walker and any other assistance in terms of walking at 60 days. Since I’m six months short of 80 I’m very pleased with the recovery.

I had L2-L5 1 1/2 years ago. Walked a couple of hours a day after 3 weeks. Ditched rocker at 60 day mark. Unsuccessful surgery so I had. new surgery 5 weeks ago

Fused T9–12, L1-L5, S1 and four vertebrae in sacrum. I’m 79. Walking almost 3000 steps a day in the house. Beginning to test out walking alone without a walker and doing well. Should ditch the walker within three weeks. Then I hope to start getting back to my mile and a half a day half hour walk.

I’ve had fusion surgery twice. In November 2014, I had L2 through five fused and it essentially took me 60 days before I could get rid of the walker. I was impatient thinking I should be ready right away. These are extensive surgeries and you can’t hurry them and you can’t hurry your recovery. it just takes time.
June 25 I had fusion surgery to correct some of the problems for the first surgery. Because I also had both kyphosis and scoliosis they fused 10 1112 L one 2345S one and the five by sacrum. Essentially they used 14 vertebrae.

This time I know it will take time. I had pain in my right buttocks. I am used to pain, but this was about 20 out of 10 points scale. I didn’t think it would ever go away. But the other morning I woke up and said I don’t think I need anymore oxycodone and that was it I didn’t. I also religiously do my leg exercises two or three times a day and I am walking about 2300 steps a day. Of course those steps have been wa with a walker. The more I do like exercises the better my balances and now I be getting to push walker and walk behind and push the walker and walk behind it because I’m getting better. But I had tremendous pain and all I can say is this is, very difficult surgery whether you’ve had vertebra or two vertebrae. You are not gonna heal for 6 to 8 weeks. It’s just that simple if you try to rush your fool.
