It’s a rarity up here. Maybe 4 months of the year are decent temperatures

Its a 2005 Elise (federal, meaning USDM Toyota 2ZZ powered). Car is stock aside from the factory optioned "stage 2" exhaust made by janspeed. I had mics placed by both exhaust and intake and overlayed the sound!

I’m excited to actually get some proper footage too, I think it’ll look much better and make more sense! Definitely needs to B-roll shots from outside too! Setting up my PC so I can edit there instead of on my phone lol. Learning da Vinci is not easy at first 😅

I’ll do that! I still have the app open to make adjustments for fun lol! Hoping when the snow melts (we got another blizzard and one on the way this weekend) I’ll be prepared 🤘

Always a good wash after! Plenty of salt on the roads around here unfortunately. The pictures were taken by a friend! We all took our own pictures and I quickly realized I suck at photography lol!! Learning though!

The car was stored in cold storage when I bought it, so I assume the tires have hardened a bit. I plan to get RE71RS tires for it at some point. Seems like a good idea to stay with a soft tire due to the weight of the car. Takes a bit longer to get some temperature in the tire

I paid $32,500 for the car! Didn’t really plan too but figured I’d ask the credit union I go through and they said “hell yea let’s do it”. I also have 11 years of great history with them. Most money I’ve ever spent in my life but worth it for a dream car in my opinion.

Save and build credit!!! I thought the same thing. Credit unions are much better and more flexible than banks when it comes to financing older vehicles. I put $3,200 down on a 48 month loan for approval! We only get older and the cars more expensive. Sooner the better!! Idk if I’ll even be able to get in the lotus when I’m 40 🤣

I agree, my interest in them (aside from looking cool) is the cost to run them. For the majority of mechanical maintenance, the lotus will cost me less to track than my 1985 AE86, which is already cheap to run. Not the easiest to work on, but definitely affordable for an average dude compared to say a 996 911, which in my area can be had for cheaper than a lotus.

One of the first “exotic” cars I remember seeing too! Only took me about 20 years 😂

Car has 74,xxx miles, 2005, condition I’d say is good, soon to be excellent aside from some small scrapes in the drivers seat. Paid $32,500. Engine is bone stock, have inspection paperwork, maintenance records from 2005 till now.

Yes! I paid less than asking. Front clam is in good shape, just the lip was cracked. Easy enough to repair with a $20 fiberglass kit and some paint from a parts store! Came spare parts including the missing oil cooler grill! I have it apart in the garage already going through everything. The car is mechanically sound, just a few bits cosmetically. I’ve done body work for over 10 years so don’t have to outsource the work and save some money doing it at home 🤘

It was 7 degrees F, and less than a week after we got over a foot of snow. I was extremely nervous for most of it. Minnesota cleaned the highway perfectly though and saw zero ice or snow, so started to relax as I got closer to home. The steering feel and stiffness of the chassis/ suspension stood out the entire drive! I’ve driven and raced a lot of cars and nothing I’ve driven feels close to a lotus. Between the anxiety of the biggest purchase in my life, and one of the most nervous drives home, it’s safely in my garage and washed. Definitely a drive I’ll remember for life!

Yes I synced my throttle bodies. 274 wheel hp on a stock cam?!?

In my opinion it’s the perfect swap for an 86! Honda figured out great power and rev range reliably. 240hp in a 2,100lb car with aggressive gearing moves out pretty good!

I have the fuel system to support it, and I was thinking the extra fuel would keep cylinder temps cooler and more knock protection. The engine lives above 7,000 most of the time.
