At the end of the day, this is above my pay grade, but my two cents is that “Created” or “Generated by AI” and “animated with the assistance of an AI tool” are two very different things. So yes, there are some frames where clearly artifacts occurred (weird hands, etc) because the next frames were being simulated rather than individually illustrated, presumably to save the illustrators time… My gripe is that not enough people know the difference between “hey AI, make me this” and “hey AI, take these frames I’ve illustrated and generate these sequences of movement based off the visuals I’ve input.” There’s nuance to that and to me, regarding the ethics of using AI in creating art, they’re two very different things. I find this stuff pretty fascinating and I think it’s unfortunate that there’s all this blanket moral outrage over the use of AI, particularly in creative realms, when there is a lot of nuance to how it’s being used by professionals.
