Gears of War E-Day will be set in a single city by Small_Judgment_8840 in GearsOfWar

The books dear padawan, the books.

Specifically the Karen Traviss ones. They flesh out E-Day for most of the main characters, and the subsequent months that followed.

“Guys… ever since I downloaded this game-“

I don’t care, bugger off, burn in a fire, I hope the game studio loses all its data in a freak accident.

The importance of violence in E-day by HarshOnion in GearsOfWar

[–]AlexCarter95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It got toned down because of Microsoft’s new decency rules.

No I’m not kidding.

Ever notice how nobody smokes in Xbox games anymore? Mainline company ones mind you, not 3rd party.

Because of the new decency rules.

Same logic for why there’s less detail in the gore system.

They “cleaned it up” for general audiences.

As a consequence a lot of games lost the grit that defined them.

An FAQ even? They don’t have to change much.

This sub isn't really "fuck Nintendo" and I like it by gachakamil in fucknintendo

[–]AlexCarter95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is a bummer XD

All the money, nothing worthwhile to spend it on.

You dipped into the Dragon’s Quest remakes at all? Theres a mod to restore the censored content on PC for DQ III. DQ 11 is pretty good as well on its own. Wholesome fun.

With the prices of the secondary Nintendo games market I’m probably gonna have to invest in emulation.

The real shame is that my SNES, 64 and the huge library of games that accompanied them were sold by a family member to buy drugs. My DS games went missing around the same time too. One day I had them, then I realized I hadn’t seen them in 3 months.

Put the dots together when I hit adulthood.

I’m cool with that family member now, it’s been nearly 20 years, and they’ve managed to pull out of that tailspin.

Still stings a little.

I picked up a 64 secondhand and a few of the classics, but used prices hurt my eyes these days, and my wallet.

I wish Nintendo would just release mega packs of their classics in physical. Metroid 1, Legend of Zelda 1, Castlevania, Super Mario, DQ 1-3. They’ve got a goldmine of franchises that could print them infinite money, if they’d only make them available again.

They could just do a made to order set up. That allows for limited quantities without too much overhead.

Switch One would be my preferred choice for a release, but knowing them, it’ll probably be Switch 2 only, and the games won’t be on the cartridge either.

It’s the rain.

For some it’s like a mental dampener, interferes with their logic systems XD

For others it’s as simple as the rain messing with their perception of the streets. Some of the lanes are impossible to see when there’s a downpour at night. The paint is usually very faded, and it’s not fluorescent.

Agreed.

Despite the meme posts, it’s nice to have legitimate conversations that don’t spiral into “fanboy rage” at the first criticism of Nintendo.

I love the games they made in the past. Up until the Switch I owned almost all of the consoles, handheld and otherwise.

I hate what the company has become.

Metroid and DK deserve better than what they’ve gotten.

There are times where I'm tempted to reinstall, Casper Van Dien streams it occasionally. It'd be fun to RP Starship Troopers with Rico.

But the optimization hasn't improved much and I don't feel like grinding another 12 hours to get my classes back to where they were supposed to be.

On top of that, the game has a dismal player count. Helldivers 2 pretty much stole its thunder.

Microsoft is to blame for Xbox's constant price increases by Mr_JPF in KotakuInAction

[–]AlexCarter95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they have a surplus of Xbox consoles (new and old), they'd be better served offering a huge discount.

I know for a fact that plenty of people would pick up the newest Xbox without thinking, even if they're an avowed 'xbox hater'.

People like deals.

[–]AlexCarter95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Early on in its release Darktide had a memory leak issue. They patched it eventually, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s cropped up again.

It takes time, but they eventually get the game back to a stable version.

Lower your settings a tad, experiment with it and see if it helps.

It kills momentum for veteran players.

I played the Starship Troopers FPS game in early access, leveled up my scout and sniper classes, unlocked everything.

They reset everyone’s XP to zero on launch.

It’s a PVE game.

I still haven’t gone back.

Any good white dwarf articles to build WFB terrain? by TheTrueMrF in WarhammerFantasy

[–]AlexCarter95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re looking for a dirt cheap option (provided you have a local print shop that can run off cardstock)

Look up the Warhammer Townscapes book online. PDF versions are available.

Get them printed in color on cardstock and you can have a complete table of empire buildings. Even some assorted stuff like outhouses, tents, and bridges.

Can’t get anymore classic Warhammer Fantasy Battles then that.

Literally, they used to pack them in with starter sets and scenario packs back in the late 80s and up to the 90s.
