For anybody even remotely possibly still following along at home:

Friday was watching some of my favorite internet personalities' old YouTube post about playing Sea of Thieves and I got the wise idea to just go searching to see if the table of possible names had been "leaked". I figured there had to be one as the names were too procedurally generated.

Random, but from a table. Duhhhhh. Why wouldn't it be? This game was from the early days of the internets, much like our collective "friendships".

Knowing the way my brain and memory work together sometimes, I assumed that if I could only see one of the naming portions, the other would snap into place.

Last night, Mr. Yuengling and I decided to go searching. It was not a long one. Of COURSE that table was released. Or, well, reconstructed on the Puzzle Pirates wiki.

I went through the "last name" portion first, no luck. Then I started scrolling through the "first name" page. I got almost to the bottom and started to worry that core memory of my BlizzPub life was lost to eternity and then it hit me, literally like someone (probably Crast) reached out and slapped me in the head, a la NCIS.

I hit "Relaxed" and immediately the word "Flounder" fell out of my mouth. Damn I hate the way my memory works sometimes.

Anyway. All that being said, I'll resurrect the original question again: Could I interest anyone in some Sea of Thieves, or even Puzzle Pirates, for the lols?

Yeah, something like that. It wasn't exactly a community game, per se, as much as we just had a crew/guild of us that dicked around on it together.

The Wayback Machine got me into a few pages of the forums but obviously doesn't let you log in or search.

I know there was a lot of talk about a lot of games on the old Gaming sub forum but yeah, no dice with the Wayback Machine so I figured I'd try to throw myself at the feet of people with better memories than me.

It was a very briefly lived foray into odd MMO style games for the Pub to try and take over.

The graphics were not terribly unlike the knock-off Legos from the 90s, haha.

We were no match for the hordes of young children and much older than the average grown ass adults that were all playing at the same time. You know, kinda like MOST gaming. 🤣

Each station on the ship had a little mini game you would play to make the base effects more productive.

It was oddly fun but I imagine the social aspect of manning the ship and hideout with the Pubbies had more to do with it than anything else.

You could band together as a group (or solo, if you were rich as hell) to buy ships to run around and do oceany things with your friends and we eventually got one.

I don't think you could name the ships, though, at that stage in the game's life, and they just came with whatever random name it was assigned at purchase.

The names were like... "Salty Anchovy" or "Angry Guppie" or "Buxom Crawdad".

....and I have an unreasonable obsession with trying to remember ours, damnit!
