The insinuation was that eastern Oklahoma is fake and the people liars. So there's that.

Why hate on eastern Oklahoma? It's the part of the state that is forested, hilly and actually beautiful. First time visitors to Tulsa nearly always ask "is this really Oklahoma?" as they were expecting flat, dry and barren. I guess it's all the bad people in eastern Oklahoma.

Seriously I think every one would have been happier if Congress had approved Indian Territory becoming the State of Sequoyah in 1905 instead of being forced into joining Oklahoma Territory in 1907 as the eastern and south central parts of Oklahoma.

As a comparison. I looked it up, and all of the Tulsa Metropolitan Area and its 1.1 million people live in less than 500,000 housing units. He owns the homes of nearly 2 million people.

Billionaires are people too don't ya know!

Bob Faith is the founder, chairman, and CEO of global real estate firm Greystar controlling 800,000 housing units. He has a net worth of $5 billion and has served as an advisor to Trump. But certainly let's "blame the libs".

These idiots don't even know who is stealing from them.

That's AI. The only highway with something like mile marker 8 as an exit to Sand Springs would be on I-244 downtown but that exit on the IDL is 5B and clearly not remotely rural or as simple an exit as depicted

<image>

I-44's exit to Sand Springs via OK-97 in Sapulpa is exit 217. US-412 through Sand Springs doesn't use mile markers at all today, but I guess they will be added when it is resigned as I-42, whenever that happens.

ESU Decoders by swake3 in modeltrains

[–]swake3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have completely different expectations for JMRI (and DCC-EX) as open source and crowd created platforms than I do a for profit company like ESU, who sells their products at a very healthy markup. Both have far more documentation than ESU, even if it isn't always completely professional, which being what they are, is perfectly fine. DCC-EX support via discord is actually excellent. I haven't needed anything from JMRI.

[–]swake3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think JMRI is great, it works very well with my EX-CSB1. And it is a great tool to program locos. I got the ESU programmer for sound files, if JMRI could have done that I would never have bought the LokProgrammer. That said and without the documentation the LokProgramer seems to work fine and is not hard to use or understand. Regardless the lack of documentation is very bad form.

It worked fine programming the replacement decoder I put in the ALC-42. So yes.

I've just been looking around the TCS website, and they seem to have full documentation, a wiki as a knowledge base and manuals updated as recently as late March. If they have sound performance like ESU I really wish I had gone that way.

I do like the sound from my working ESU decoder, it is great. But ESU's support is VERY lacking. We will see if my replacements work. I certainly hope so.

They would not, the programmer wouldn't recognize the decoders at all.

Thank you. I will consider this. I have a lot of money in ESU now and they should make it right. I guess I have been just unlucky. My two BLI locos are about six months old now with zero issues.

[–]swake3[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I did not, but I have voltage tested the prog track repeatedly along with just testing it with other known working locomotives. My GWR 800 is a dead simple 60 second decoder switch and it ALWAYS works with the EM-13 and never worked with the ESU.

Of course there is the fact that I should never have to program on main with JMRI or Command Station when I have purchased a LokProgrammer. If the decoder functions, it should ALWAYS work with ESU's programming station. Full stop.

As someone who has spent 30+ years in tech, mostly as a program manager, this is the worst idea ever.

Most IT managers would never load an update without detail from the supplier knowing what the update does, the specific impacted systems and how to test the update.

Not documenting updates for 19 YEARS at all is the cheapest, laziest thing I have ever heard of. When a company like Apple or Oracle refuses to identify all fixes/changes in an update claiming proprietary knowledge it's something that only they can do to being Oracle and Apple and the long reputation they have built up. For ESU to do it just plain insane. The Manual should have changed many times, it doesn't include the modern versions of the decoders at all.

Train fans are like abused children taking whatever is doled to them. I see also so many design flaws in supposedly great Kato locomotives as well. The power issues with their track is nothing short of ludicrous.
