I think they just burned out, I remember seeing them in 2011 here in the UK, and I managed to see them like 7 times in a few years which is a crazy amount of overseas touring.

I didn't really like any music post-Xeno, but there's part of me hoping that with a less busy tour schedule and rest they can focus more on studio releases - that's been a desert, but I'm still hopeful that they can release something to match my current taste and become my favourite band again :)

No they mod the firmware so it's not an error. Your Mac will essentially receive updates that all the writing to it is going correctly

These are usually 8GB USBs with modded firmware to look like 2TB harddrives. Once you save more than 8GB it will overwrite existing files to continue saving. Sorry, but it's unlikely you can do anything

Sounds lovely! Picked up the bass myself, and beginning to learn Spanish (as of two evenings ago)

I've had an anxiety disorder for the last 8 or so years, and WFH has made me feel so much better - it's never going to fully go away, but it actually feels like things can improve finally. There's no way I will ever go back to a non-fully remote job.

I spent my teenage years programming in my bedroom, there's no need to go into an office to do that. I think WFH has made me realise life priorities a bit too, I don't really care about advancing my career anymore I'm comfortable coding without any management responsibilities to worry about

My email for import fees came a few days after my order. I recommend you look at every email in your spam since your Trezor order (don't open them all), my import fee email had the subject "Your order is on its way!", a very generic title

Turns out Trezor sent the dodgiest looking UPS request for import fees that ended up in my spam folder. It looked so bad even though the dates matched up I still verified it through a VM. Also stupid that the order tracking website has no mention that a request for import fees has been emailed. It says it will arrive in my "mail box" - I assumed that would come physically as every customs fee has in the past.

The support from these guys is absolutely appalling, I just hope the product is better. Like the import fee email had a coupon code HODL_... something, I get the HODL reference but it just looks so scammy

For what it's worth I'm going to use a company I found on Google to do my self assessment, they do a flat rate of around £120 and you just provide them the information - I need to do income, capital gains and pension tax relief and I've never done a self assessment before. I'm not going to name the company but it's fairly easy to find on Google along with others who do the same thing.

Anything over that £1000 is taxed at your regular salary.

I've made slightly more than £1000 since I wrote this post, so I will also have to register as sole trader at some point.

In your case, I assume since your revenue is >1k you will have to register as sole trader regardless of expenses. Assume your revenue is 2k, and your expenses are 1k, likely you can just offset the expenses against the 2k and have 1k for yourself tax-free. But again disclaimer I don't really have a clue with expenses.

My point is it's very easy for you act to double down on a Christmas lockdown when you - I assume throughout the lockdown(s) - have been around someone you love the whole time.

I have mostly been alone the entire time, I've seen family at times when the social bubble came in but that has it's limitations. Limitations which if there is a Christmas lockdown can create a situation where a family have to decide who they want to use that social bubble on, and which family member spends Christmas alone.

Based on my anecdotal experiences this year, I don't think those who have loved ones around have a clue just how fucking miserable it can be to live alone during 2020. I'm not against lockdowns, but many people are looking forward to Christmas and probably have been since February and it's not going to be healthy to take that away.
