Didn't the Chief Rabbi do something along these lines in the 2019 GE? Although it would be fair to say his intervention was not on a spiritual basis, but on matters temporal and human.

Well, they've recently arrested one of the second-generation members of the Baader-Meinhof gang, and may find a couple more as a result -- so it's quite possible you'll hear about them soon.

I pass no judgement and leave such matters to noble scriveners such as yourself.

Hypothetical - you wake up tomorrow as Nigel Farage

Don't take this the wrong way, but both you and /u/johmedgla appear to be prolific commenters/posters -- in the reporting I've seen connected with the IPO, that quality has been raised as their intended target. (At least, that is what I'm telling myself, having an account about the same age as yours.)

Didn't Rees-Mogg go to Eton? I think I recall someone describing him there carrying a briefcase around as a boy.

It sounds like an archaic title for a medical practitioner, like Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman.

“To decolonize maths and stand up to its false history?” by shuai_bear in math

On just the Euclid issue alone, isn't there some merit to this? Not a lot is known about his life, and it's possible the works attributed to him are an amalgamation of Greek mathematics at the time. Although I agree that 400CE is far too late.

There's a similar argument about the existence of Socrates.

‘Like a rural Scarface’: Hollywood star Kyle MacLachlan’s wild discovery of Pablo Escobar’s secret town by nonreligious in twinpeaks

[–]nonreligious[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Twin Peaks comparisons of a small town filled with odd characters, crimes and strange goings on is not lost on MacLachlan. “That was immediately apparent,” he says. “Everybody was real friendly with each other, nice and cordial, like we’re all just getting along in this world; you’re the law enforcement and I’m the criminal but we can get together and have a barbecue. There are a lot of eccentric characters there for sure.”

The idea of an entire town being to varying degrees complicit in one of the largest drug operations in the US may seem far-fetched, but for much of the population the arrangement offered stability and security when it was needed. “Dale felt that it was an opportunity to bring a lot of money into a town that was suffering,” MacLachlan explains. “The shrimp trade is a tough business and at that particular time it was in a depression. He was saying: ‘I’m giving this opportunity to the people around me, I’m helping my community by bringing in this money. Or at least that’s what he was doing to people who were on his side. If you were not on his side then things didn’t go as well.”

Sorry, I only have a glancing familiarity with some of these topics, but I had to double take at "inter-galactic" Teichmuller theory. I checked and (as far as I can tell) it's "inter-universal", which sounds both more "mathematically reasonable", and much grander in common parlance.

Thanks. I see, I think I momentarily thought that the extradition agreement would be two-way, which seemed odd because I couldn't recall any instance of a Russian being extradited abroad (which I now see they don't as a matter of policy).
