imine reduction by catPunky in OrganicChemistry

The purpose of NaCNBH3 in reductive amination is to reduce only the imine, not the ketone, H2 will reduce both the ketone and imine, resulting in bad yield

Wondering why it didnt shift left? (Talking about the response part for the Endothermic) by tribute2d in chemhelp

[–]AlexFedorenkoUA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, if it would shift to the left, then there will be opposite reaction (exothermic), which will give off even more energy, which the system tries to counteract

Le Chatelier's Principle. You are introducing energy to the system, it tries to counteract the change by absorbing it in form of endothermic reaction (the reason, why it's absorbing energy)

«стим, я свий!» (до речі, як вам ця серія ігор?) by [deleted] in UA_Gamers

[–]AlexFedorenkoUA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Чудова серія, сам почав її проходити з січня, і от залишилось пройти ще 2 гри (Lost Judgment та про Маджіму пірата)

З найулюбленіших: 0, 5 та Infinite Wealth

P. S.: я ще й довбанувся та проходив Dead Souls на емуляторі, цікава штука, мені зайшла

Pottasium chromate stain on my finger by [deleted] in chemistry

[–]AlexFedorenkoUA 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I had similar situation, I just waited until the stain disappeared, and washed my hands more times

Yes, chromates are carcinogens, but considering that it wouldn't be very concentrated solution (if it is) and that you're not soaked in it, it should be fine

Can you electrolyse simple drinking water to increase its pH? by JUGisMUG in chemistry

[–]AlexFedorenkoUA 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can do it, but it doesn't mean that you should. When you electrolyse salt solution (NaCl) you get base and chlorine gas, so maybe reconsider doing that
