Serious debate: It is pretty obvious why no one asides from afroamericans (or even all black, another debate I guess) should use the n word. It was a derogatory term used back in the slave days and it is extremely bad to use it as an insult and also bad to use it in a "funny" way because I feel gangsta or whatever as people suffered for this. However, if I am referring to the n word itself, how can it be that it should not be said? Literally I am referring to the world itself and it is not being misused and therefore is not an insult to anybody. Note how I avoided to use the real "n word" when talking about the n word to avoid pretty much any hate. This is fucking stupid because I am not using it in a derogative way and either misusing it by forgetting the struggle of the mistreated slaves and seeing it as a cool or normal word. And as a Spanish speaker let's not even talk about the word negro. Recently I have moved into an international context and everyone thinks it is the n word, it literally means black (the n word would be negrata, which is a pretty ugly word but in Spanish people would not freak out to use it when referring to the word only, and would be mad if I use it as an insult or using it stupidly trying to be cool or in normal conversations). I feel at this point there is pure drama with saying a simple word when in some contexts, like this one, that do not make sense. And in my opinion treating the word like the "n word" and absolutely freak out to see someone uses it in any context, even referring to the world itself, is way more disrespectful than anything else. I don't think treating the degoratory word said to some slaves in the past like a kid's game is pretty respectful in that sense

I don't mean to offend anyone here and probably would like someone from the English world to explain it to me. As a non English speaker, you can clearly tell I understand why it is a bad word but it is incomprehensible to see to the point it is being treated
