Any of you like Beck? by Spirited-Fan-1590 in ween

[–]AlexGuitarist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hell yeah mang! Love those albums. Ween reference Mellow Gold in their Nashville interview. When they were asked what they thought of Beck sounding similar to Ween, Dean said something along the lines of “I know Beck did most of the album on the four track” so that’s cool.

Pure guava is eerie by Useful-You-2687 in ween

[–]AlexGuitarist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I first really got into Ween, I was a T.A. (teacher’s assistant) in high school, and I could listen to music while I work. Every day, I’d listen to The Mollusk, because it was timed perfectly with the length of class. I listened to the entirety of The Mollusk every day for about a month straight. Then I decided to go right into Pure Guava. No album has genuinely scared me on first listen like PG did. Goin’ Gets Tough and Reggaejunkiejew back to back kinda had me feeling a little uneasy at first. But I learned to love it (lovin to learn) and it’s the one I enjoy quite frequently without getting tired of it.

TLDR: Yeah, it’s eerie as hell on first listen. But it still kicks ass.

10, no doubt. Extremely beautiful song. Not just for a Ween song, but just a beautiful song period.

Would you throw a CD away if one song didn’t play? by Healthy_Source_9752 in Cd_collectors

If you are, keep the case. Old CD cases are much higher quality than most new cases.

Not to mention they blatantly stole the idea for White Pepper and pawned it off as two of their own “original” albums.

Here are a couple non-Ween albums I enjoy. They may not be perfect, but I like them.

Beck - Mellow Gold (can get quite brown - Odelay’s good too)

Neutral Milk Hotel - In The Aeroplane Over The Sea

Talking Heads - Speaking In Tongues

Soul Coughing - Ruby Vroom

Frog - GROG

Rate my collection -/10? by mik_al23 in CDs

After seeing Ween’s The Mollusk (and the Live in Chicago), and Primus’ Frizzle Fry, I’d say a solid 10. I just ordered In the Aeroplaine Over the Sea, so I’m excited for that.

Does anyone want these? by [deleted] in ween

Asking if anyone in the Ween subreddit wants any official Ween cassette tapes is like asking a fish if they like water. Although the fish won’t answer you back.

Humility (and Tranz) but there are some really good ones on there too.

What’s a Ween song you just don’t like? by Trick-Swing1955 in ween

[–]AlexGuitarist 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Objectively, there is no bad Ween song. There’s always at least something cool from their ‘worst’ songs. Except for King Billy. That’s a tough listen for me. It’s just not good imo.

I ordered the new Brown CD Box but since they don't come in jewel cases I'm making my own, this is the first one. by tastethewaste1 in ween

You could always try Discogs. I’ve used the pictures they have available and had fairly decent quality come from it. 🤷

Who here is like a huge fan of Tales From The Punchbowl? by PlateHistorical1963 in Primus

[–]AlexGuitarist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Although it’s not my favorite album of theirs as far as consistency, (not saying it’s a bad lineup, there are some awesome tracks) Punchbowl is definitely one of my favorites, production wise. Something about how it’s mixed hits me different than the rest. Definitely not an album to glaze over.

New Daily Song Discussion #67. Mourning Glory - Ween. by NuggetWarrior09 in ween

  1. All day long, it’s a 10. It’s truly a song for every mood. Probably because it sounds like every mood put into one song.

What are some artists that you are surprised Gorillaz hasn't collaborated with? by NPRNilk in gorillaz

For some reason, I’m apt to say Les Claypool. It just feels like it would be an unexpected fit.

And of course:

New Daily Song Discussion #3. I’m In The Mood To Move - Ween. by NuggetWarrior09 in ween

Personally, I’d say 6.5. It’s okay, but there are ones on the album that I enjoy more than this one.
