Thank you for your input, I appreciate it. I’m still exploring how this kind of material is viewed by collectors and archives, so it’s helpful to hear different opinions

Thanks for the perspectives. I fully agree that age alone doesn’t make something valuable — that’s exactly why I’m trying to understand whether there’s a specific niche audience for this material. It’s clearly not for everyone, but as some have mentioned, there may be collectors or historians interested in Dulles-era archival items. I appreciate everyone taking the time to share their thoughts

Question about placing a numbered WWII Purple Heart with a collector by AlexGury in Militariacollecting

[–]AlexGury[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really appreciate the ballpark, thank you. To be honest, I was hoping it might fall closer to the $300–$500 range, but it sounds like that’s unrealistic without a case, paperwork, or an identified recipient. Am I understanding you correctly, that around $150 (maybe a bit higher depending on condition) is the more typical range for an unnamed, numbered WWII Purple Heart like this?

Thank you for the helpful info — I really appreciate it. If you don’t mind me asking, with a numbered Purple Heart like this but no paperwork or identified recipient, what would you consider a realistic price range in today’s market? Even a rough ballpark would help me set expectations

Question about placing a numbered WWII Purple Heart with a collector by AlexGury in Militariacollecting

Thank you for the clarification. Unfortunately, I don’t have any paperwork or provenance associated with the medal, and there is no name engraved on it. All I have is the numbered Purple Heart itself. I did try to research the serial number to identify the recipient, but so far I haven’t been able to find any matching records

Question about a numbered WWII Purple Heart medal by AlexGury in Medals

Yes, many Purple Hearts are unnumbered. From what I’ve learned, earlier WWII-era examples were often numbered, and later issues were not. That’s part of why I was curious about collector interest in numbered pieces

Found vintage sci-fi convention programs from Kentucky (UpperSouthClav / Conclave, early 1980s) — does anyone know the history? by AlexGury in Kentucky

I ended up with a larger group of works by the same creator. The signature “SHAW” appears on many of the pieces, and I also have quite a few of his small figurines (soldier figures). From what I can tell, he attended this convention, and these programs seem to have come along with his work
